Muay Thai Blackbelt??

I just heard Goldy say at the beginning of the Alcantara vs Felipe fight that one of them has a Muay Thai Blackbelt and the other a BJJ Blackbelt, now i don't get this.. I do muay thai but have only ever heard of a blackbelt on Fabricio Werdum's wiki page and Shogun's..

Is there actually such thing or is this just a Rafael Cordeiro thing?

I think this was discussed on here a while back. Some Muay thai clubs give out belts, it seems especially in Brazil.
Never heard of it where I live tho.

Some krus give out belts. A lot of muay thai guys will give out arm bands instead.

None of it means anything in MMA though, and that goes for BJJ as well.

Fabricio Werdum has a black belt in muay thai, that's how much it's worth.

So it's worth quite a bit, seeing as how Werdum outstruck the K1 GP champion.

I don't agree that he did, I thought his striking looked like nothing special at all in that fight. He ran in throwing a bunch of shots that didn't do much and as soon as Overeem was going to hit back, he flopped on his back.
I know he hit him a couple of times for sure, and his striking isn't bad but I don't see how he would deserve a blackbelt. I think he has pretty ok striking but never seen it as impressive. But hell what do I know, if his coach says he deserves a blackbelt then he probably does.
He did outstrike Bigfoot too.
