Was thinking about Silva tonight. The guy is obviously a very talented MT fighter and BJJ artiest however i dont think those are his greatest weapons. I think the one thing that Silva really has going for him right now is his reputation. The mystique is really what causes him to be so dominate.
Think about it no matter who you are what you do and how skilled you are at it if you are not confident in yourself you wont preform well. I think allot of great fighters get in the cage with him and think too highly of him and get scared. Sure these fighters can talk the big talk but once they get in the cage they seem to be afraid to engage. They seem hesitant and almost mesmerized by Silva's presents and he capitalizes on that.
Go back if you will to GSP vs Hughes 1 GSP was intimidated by Matt and as a result lost the fight.
Like him or not Chael on the other hand was not the least bit intimidated by silva and when it came to fight in the first round he just stepped up and knocked silva on his ass without hesitation. Through all the prefight antics he belittled and cut silvas image down and he had made up his mind that he was not going to be intimidated by silva.
I dont care who it is that steps in the cage with silva if they want to win they have to have the right mind set and i think a majority of the fights silva has been in the guys have not had the right mind set. Love him or hate him take a lesson from chael and dont let this guy intimidate you because if he does you have already lost the fight.
just my take
