WWE is a body-builder soap opera. Men in the UFC train hard to achieve a spot in the octagon.

The guys in the WWE are athletes too. And yes, the WWE would be more brutal than MMA on a regular basis. No one in MMA is asking to get slammed, dropped on their head, or thrown from great heights (many times through objects) on an average of 200 days out of the year. Which also explains the great amount of pain-killer addiction in Pro-Wrestling in general.
But, this response comes a little late. The PPV that the aforementioned challenge was heading up to has passed and the response is about 6 weeks post mortem.
And yes, Puder caught Angle in a Kimura off his back. Not a triangle.

Update:
Kurt Angle has been released by the WWE.
WWE: Inside WWE > News > Superstars shocked at Angle's release

ECW representative Paul Heyman, who has known Angle for years says, "This is the best thing for both parties. Kurt has spent his entire life driven to be the best at what he does. Kurt's body, however, could no longer preform to the level that he envisioned for himself. (Kurt) was prepared to drive himself into an early grave simply to live with himself striving to be No. 1. This is a recipe for catastrophe, and taking time off to get his mind and body in sync is the only way to deal with these issues."

To all you wrestling haters out there, you should realize that pro wrestlers put their bodies through far more than MMA guys do. Where MMA guys fight once every half a year (probably longer), wrestlers are out "fighting" every couple of days. Show a little respect for these guys.
That being said, Kurt Angle is getting a little out of his prime as far as competing with UFC guys. However, Id imagine that if he had gone into the UFC instead of WWE back in the day, he would have no doubt been a dominant force, because he's becomes obsessed with being the best at whatever he applies himself too.

Ya ok pro wrestlers put there bodys through more "pain" fine i'll give you that one even though i don't agree with it.
But theres a big difference between rehearsed pain where you know whats going to happen and you've been through it before, and pain where your not sure if someones going to punch, kick, slam, shoot on your, the difference is very large.
I'd rather jump around and get slammed on my back when i know its comming then get a flying hook in the face by chuck liddell.
Btw i don't see any WWE fighters getting knocked out during there fights and a knock out does more to your body then a bunch of silly canvas bruises.

Mick Foley once got knocked out by being thrown through a cage down to the ring and having a chair fall on his head. They stalled a little bit and then went on with the match, which involved being slammed onto thumbtacks and by the end of the match one of his teeth were sticking out of his nose.
