With no alternate opponent, Diego Nunes also out of UFC 135

Quote:
Diego Nunes was left without an opponent at UFC 135 when Manny Gamburyan withdrew from their fight two weeks ago, and now it seems that Nunes won't be fighting at all on the card. Nunes, who has had a bit of a feud going with Gamburyan dating back to the WEC days, is apparently injured and would rather wait to face Gamburyan anyway. And a troubling family situation surely didn't help matters. He spoke to Sherdog about it:

"I wonít fight [at UFC 135] anymore. The UFC didnít find an opponent quickly and I also got injured in training," Nunes explained Monday to Sherdog.com. "Iím suffering with painful tendonitis in my left arm, and I also had a problem in my hometown, where some people tried to murder my father. It was the best decision [to postpone the fight] so I can travel south to see my family."

He spoke about Gamburyan as well:

"I think I will face him. Thatís my main focus now," Nunes said, noting that he could return to action in December. "When I give the green light to my manager, after Iím fully recovered, Iíll talk to him and see if the UFC can match us. I would rather fight more tough and named guys, but we have this feud and it will be cool."

This leaves UFC 135 with just 10 confirmed bouts as of right now. The main event will feature UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones defending his title against former champion Quinton Jackson.
