Shogun vs. Silva

Seriously, how badass of a fight would this be? I could maybe see it happening down the line, but still chances are we don't see it.

Someone is going to get KTFO, and if not it'll probably end up being a crazy kickboxing match. I think it's an extremely hard fight to breakdown. I assume most would give the standing advantage to Anderson. If one would want to take the fight to the mat Shogun is probably more suited to do that. I can't see an advantage for either fighter in the clinch or muay thai, they're both so nasty there. Jiu Jitsu is also a wash in my opinion. All this is assuming both fighters are 100% and in their best condition.

If Shogun is 100% and uses controlled aggression and pick his spots like the Machida fights he definitely has a chance. If her blitzs Silva he could catch him, but he has a better chance of getting caught himself. His best bet would be to get inside on Silva as much as he can to try and catch him, and use leg kicks and feints to keep Silva uneasy at a distance. He could even try and press him against the cage and get a takedown. The thing with Shogun is all it take is one punch, and if you're hurt he's going to finish you.

Anderson should keep the fight at a distance use what reach he has on Shogun and try and pick him apart. He can try and counter Shogun's big shots and put him out. He should keep his back off the cage and give himself room to move from Shogun's flurries. I wouldn't recommend him dropping his hands against Shogun however.

Sorry for the essay, but this is a fight that would excite me to no end. Imagine if they did a fight like this in Brazil. Overall I'd say Anderson should be the favorite, but man that fight would be crazy.

Anderson's style is tailor made for Shogun's berserker style. Unlike Machida, who has a different style of elusiveness, Anderson stays in the pocket, dodges strikes, uses head movement with feints, and counters. I think 100% Shogun, or whatever 100% Shogun is these days, would get picked apart. This match wouldn't last longer than a round especially if Shogun gets overly aggressive. If it goes past the first round, Shogun's chances to win diminishes each round.

I mirror this post, except that i think it'd last longer than 1 round due to the fact that Silva genreally throws very little in the first round while he feels his opponent out. Rua's lunging style would likely land him flat on his back counting stars.

This would be a cool fight except Shogun said he would never fight another Brazilian again.

He said it after the Jon Jones fight. He said something about the UFC making Brazilians fight each other so Americans can be on top. I really didn't get his argument since the only Brazilian he fought in the UFC was Lyoto Machida.

I love the '100%' Shogun phrase all his fanboys cling to. Whenever he wins, he's 100% and whenever he loses, he's injured.

Yup, apparently a man who knocked out Machida in the 1st was 100%, came into the next fight 50% just to come back 100% and knock out Griffin in the 1st as well.
