Jon Jones Responds To Rampage's Spying Claims

Earlier today former UFC light heavyweight champion Quinton "Rampage" Jackson accused current 205lbs. kingpin Jonny "Bones" Jones of planting spies in his camp ahead of their September 24 meeting. Jackson levied a similar claim at Jones' former stablemate Rashad Evans following their May 2010 clash, a claim which Evans has vehemently denied.
Having grown paranoid following the situation with Evans -- where Jackson believed Suga targeted a knee injury of his during the fight, even though he went to lengths to keep that news from the media -- Jackson spread a false rumor to only a select few of his training partners that he had injured his hand and shortly thereafter, he got a call from UFC matchmaker Joe Silva inquiring about the injury. Silva was tipped off by Jones' manager, Malki Kawa.

Kawa has since stated that he heard of the rumor on Twitter and reached out to Silva in order to find out the truth. Jones himself took to his own Twitter page today to respond to Jackson's claims.

"@Rampage4real Just so you know, I'm not a person who looks for shortcuts in life. Unlike you, MMA is not something I do because of money," wrote Jones. "It's a way of life for me and I would never disrespect the integrity of that. I have way more faith in myself, as well as, respect for the art of fighting to ever stoop that low, thats just bad karma. Believe me or not, I've said my part.. hoping you have a safe and healthy finish to your camp.."

Jackson and Jones are scheduled to square off in the main event of UFC 135, which is to take place at the Pepsi Center in Denver, Colorado.

Good response by Jones. Rampage is acting a little irrational here. The only possibility of a spy would be a spy that works for the UFC to check in on the fighters.

Jones would be the last fighter i'd imagine trying to get the upper hand on his opponent through cheap tactics... why would he need to?

Typical. Not like he's gonna say he did it anyway.

Just another chance for Jones to recycle some more nice guy act bull shit. He seriously needs to tone that down and show a little more of his personality. I almost vomit everytime I read an article on Mr. goody two shoes Jones.

Sounds like a response an HR rep or lawyer would write. Boring, sort of pretentious and a total buzzkill.

It very much sounds like a prepared statement, it was either that or "ROFL I C WUT U DO CUZ! I GOTZ UR PLAN!". Still, I do believe that Rampage has a spy, but not because they are spying for someone, just someone who wants to 'break the scoop' if you will. Of course Jones's manager is watching anything said about Rampage on twitter, especially with all the injury pull outs as of late.

Would you prefer if Jones was ghetto as hell (like Rampage)? I thought his response was fine. He actually took a couple jabs at Rampage in his response. What sort of response would you have preferred?

Given the way he has talked and responded to things before this, that statement doesn't alleviate any of the suspicion for me. In fact, it makes it more suspicious to me.

It's also really interesting that Bone's manager even said he had called the UFC about it, and claimed he got the tip from someone's twitter. Anyone find that tweet yet?

Wouldn't surprise me at all, Jones isn't the sweetness and light he makes out to be.

Definately seems like a 'pre-prepared' statement to me. Either way, we'll probably never find out the truth.
