And how do you hit a man who's father just passed away. Imagine if Ellenberger somehow knocks him out, how's he going to be able to celebrate.

This situation is bad, not only for Jake's part.

Nothing but respect for Jake for deciding to stick with this fight. It may be a tough night for him emotionally but he's went up a notch in my books for this.

I kinda agree.

Honestly, i wish this fight would have been postponed.
But, i'm sure there were talks behinf the scenese and ZUFFA + Shields decided to go ahead.

At the end of the day, they're professionals and how's that saying?!..."Show must go on"?!

PS: i hope this won't affect Ellenberger though. He's in an akward position also as you mentioned it.

.

BELIEVE!

Couldn't really see him not. I highly doubt anyone would not compete after something like this. No matter what professional sport you were talking about

I think this is gonna end up being a mistake, I expect Shields to have his worst showing in a long time.

Shitty news right there, I feel for Jake. I do wonder if something like this happening and going ahead with the fight so soon after will help or hurt him.

On one hand it would be so hard to concentrate on training so soon after and i'm sure he isn't sleeping well. It could also inspire him to kick some ass though...I remember a guy (Keith Traylor I think) on the Broncos who lost his mom 2 days before a playoff game and had the best game of his life that day, almost unblockable.

I didn't care who won this fight before, but i'll admit i'll be rooting for Jake just because.

I dont know man.. i think you guys are giving Jake too much credit. Iv had my mom pass away from cancer and i still made it to school the next day AND work. Jake doesn't have to fight till the 17th of september. He has plenty of time to get his head where its supposed to be and then make the fight even therapeutic.
But not everyone is like me... i had to surround myself with people to get through it, some people like to be alone. I had about 25 people from school people i considered friends/acquaintances and even a teacher came to my moms funeral. So i relied heavily on people to get by.
