This is England.. people who are uneducated with MMA/UFC just associate a cage with bloodthirsty barbaric skin heads who beat each other with moves meant to decapitate and permanently injure their opponents.

Really the world is full of ignorant people, never gonna change, always going to be ******* ANNOYING!

Irresponsible

Sorry, but although the report on the sport itself was poor, you have to think about the moronic organisers.

Seriously... we need scantily clad women? beer etc.? at a childs event? no, sorry. I would never allow my son to compete in this environment. not at that age. It gives a very bad impression to them.

The difference between this and holding it in a gym or in a controlled environment without drunk crowds and scantilly clad women is that they learn to respect the sport.

This is as bad as the beauty contests for kids in the USA. It doesnt give the right impression to the public OR to the children.

It's worth noting, this wasnt just on 1 news channel, it was on ALL of them!!!

It is an absolute joke. Kids as young as 7 compete in amateur boxing on the same cards as adults ALL the time here and it is never ever mentioned. not in gyms either, in working mens clubs where they serve beer and have ring girls. It's hipocracy personified

Some kids get in a cage and have a Jits match and it makes National headlines.

It's things like this that really show just how far MMA needs to go to be accepted as a real sport in this country.

The BBC are the creaky old granddad of TV organizations. In fact, I would be disappointed if they didn't respond like this. I *expect* this kind of rubbish from them. As a rule of thumb, whenever the BBC make a comment, try and imagine the Queen saying it. It'll make much more sense and is much easier to ignore/laugh at.

Its not crowds that is the problem...

it's the type of crowd, type of environment. Ladies in underwear and beer should not be linked with kids events. simple as that.

I agree with this. Either have events where the cards are kids only, or adults only. But to mix the two is not great.
