Yes, I've seen a news report in French TV with the kid crying. But actually, a kid crying at a competition is still not the problem. I can remember that when I competed as a kid, there was also quite some crying amongst the kids (mostly for losing). That never was an issue, as 7-8 yo kids just cry more easily. The problem is really the crowd.
I remember events where the organisers "crossed" a kids grappling tournament with an MMA event, but they where strictly separated. The kids tournament was at noon and the MMA tournament in the evening where kids were strictly forbidden to attend.
Yeah, the whole environment didn't look too kid friendly but maybe I'm overreacting a bit with the crying.
