http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england...shire-14998593
OH. MY. DAYS. I cannot describe how totally ******* rediculus this is; just insane! What's the difference between that and a judo or wrestling class/competion! The reporter was so unbelivibly bias. kid that age do boxing competions. Just rediculus how mainstream media still ridicule the sport in anyway possible over here, I'm fuming and I'm actually gonna complain about this!

Clearly an uneducated noob. This is the kind of stuff you hear from pretty much everyone I've ever met, over the age of 35, who isn't cool like oldie.

Saw this today, for you Americans, this actually aired on the 6PM news on the main UK channel.
Firstly, it wasn't MMA or 'cagefighting' as they put it, basically a jui-jitsu fight which took place inside a cage. Stupid stupid reporting.

It's probably best to keep that in a private gym. I am not saying it's wrong as long as they were properly supervised, but MMA is just starting to take off and putting eight year kids out in front of a crowd in a cage is not going to help matters.

Realistically there is nothing wrong with this, but morally there is. I have no problem with what happen here. But remember the world we live in people get mad when an 8 year old walks to school by himself or crosses the street.
U have two boys 8 grappling, like i said i have no problem with it. I would keep it private in a dojo, don't like the public see something like this as it will create rage.
It is a ****ed up story no doubt, they blew it out of context.

QFT
my 9yo is thinking about picking up martial arts, but yea, no
putting kids in a cage in front of a crown is a no go for me, it's not a matter of sports or whatever, the spectacle could be taken the wrong way, MMA as a sport doesn't need that today.
but yea, the article is BS, I agree with that

It was basically a submission wrestling match. The public can't handle the fact that they were in a cage.
These happen daily in jitz / wrestling tournaments. That was no different.

I'd have to think this would be received differently in a country like the USA where wrestling is part of the culture. Nothing really abnormal about this they have crowds at school meets. I was doing similar things at their age.
The comments pretending it is impossible for them to get hurt were moronic though. Kids get hurt grappling all the time just like any other athletic competition.

true story when i was 9 and my bro was was 8 we took public transit to school 3 blocks from my house. Teachers found out and decided to get child services involved.
The world is filled with a lot of shit people consider wrong even though its not. If the kids in this video want to do it, and there parents are okay with it then its alright.
What is the difference between this shit and pee wee football?
