If/When Kenny Florian loses, where does he go?

Kenny Florian has had two title fights at LW and lost both, He is now fighting for the FW title in his new weight class.

Personally I think Aldo will have no problem beating Florian so my question is where does Florian go from there?

Does he stay at FW and try to work his way up to another title shot?

Does he try to drop to yet another weight class to challenge for the BW title? (not likely)

Does he move to LW and become the best gatekeeper in the UFC?

Does he dare try a move to WW? (he is way too small and would get ragdolled?

I like Florian, but after he loses to Aldo I think he will be stuck in limbo.

What do you think he will/should do?

He might retire which I hope he wouldn't because he's a very good and exciting fighter as far as I'm concerned but if he loses to Aldo he may never get another shot at the title unless he buzz saws through everyone and Aldo makes the eventual move to 155.

Kenny's fairly old in the game though, I got Aldo by beautiful counter KO with some follow up shots on the ground and he may keep fighting or he may focus on other things, he's a good commentator and he's always got the ESPN thing to fall back on. It really just depends on if he wants to keep competing if he loses, if he does I think he'll move up because there's no sense in draining your body like that for novelty fights.

If Kenny is smart he does what Lytle did and say screw titles, I'm gonna win me bonus money and be the most exciting fighter I can be. When Kenny just lets it go he really is quite amazing. His elbows slice people open, his submission game is really good, his striking is technical and awkward which allows him to come from good angles, and his wrestling is pretty close to top tier. I honestly feel that Kenny, other than maybe an interim or some other weird situation, will never hold the belt, if he accepts that and just fights to fight he could be one of the most popular LW's.

Also, if he loses he should go to 155 where he looks healthy and has had no real problems with most of his opponents.

I agree with everything you said except this. His wrestling is by far his achilles heel.

I would hate to see him retire, I always like watching his fights.

I agree, but it isn't bad. He has out wrestled pretty much everyone other than the actual top tier people at LW. It doesn't help him much since most of the top tier fighters are wrestlers, but still he isn't going to get taken down by Diego Sanchez at 155. Kenny has worked his wrestling a lot since he realized, like most other BJJ guys do, that just because you aren't afraid to be on your back doesn't mean it is a good position to be in when it comes to the judges. He will never out wrestle Maynard or Edgar or Penn, but still he won't get taken down by just anybody.

He'll then become part of the 95% of fighters that never become champ.

I know the game is always pushing people towards a title, but most guys will just never get there. Maybe it's time to just enjoy where he's at, make some big bonuses and put on some great shows. Or maybe if he suddenly improves drastically or the champs retire/deteriorate, make another run.

If a paycheck and gatekeeper/perennial contender status is not worth it, then it's best to retire and coach... live your dreams vicariously through your students as they say .

The move down to 145 is a mistake I think, he's a better fighter at 155. Kenny's a good fighter without a doubt and has what it takes to make it into top 5 LW's. Not sure if he is championship material but he's not an easy fight for anyone not named BJ.
