What Is Shamrock's Legacy?

He'll Go Down As I True Pioneer Of The Sport, But After Losing To Franklin And Tito Twice All Convincingly I Think He Lost Alot Of The Respect He Once Had..i Repect The Man..he Should Have No Shame In Losing To Those Guys But In My Eyes He Can No Longer Be Looked At As One Of The All Time Greats

If it weren't for Shamrock, Gracie and Severn there would be no UFC. Ask any current UFC fighter and they will tell you that they respect these guys. Shamrocks legacy is the UFC.

The guy has 26 mma wins....thats more than ALOT of people can say, and the guys he beat were no slouches: Kimo (2), Bas, Mo Smith, Severn...to name a few, and the guys who beat him are some of the best of all time: Tito (2), Ace, Royce, Severn, Frye, Sakuraba......the guy is a legend no doubt abount it, one of the best ever, and like they said above me, his legacy is UFC no ifs ands or buts about it.....so what hes lost 3 fights in a row, hes up there in age, hes a year younger than Couture, but the difference is, Randy knew when to hang em up

jdun11 07-10-2006 11:51 AM

so do you still consider him one of the best fighters of all time

I agree with that, and in his time he was great. Ken just didn't see the sport moving as fast and evolving as far as it did, and he couldn't keep up. Give the man a break, he is 42 and still had better conditioni9ng than half the guys on the UFC 61 card.

Respect is due, he just doesn't know enough about different disciplines to compete or coach imo - doesn't take away anything he did before.
