Hogan is a wrestling icon. He deserves more then 400 but not 2,000,000. He never was a good wrestler he was just a real good actor. It has to hurt to see the company he helped build get shadowed more and more by the mma world every day.

Exactly right.

Monday Night Raw draws an average of 4.0+ ratings points every week while the last UFC Ultimate Fight Night got a low 1. UFC Unleashed also barely breaks a one every week while one of the WWEs lowest rated programs (ECW) gets ratings in the mid ones.

If you add up the WWEs ratings (from RAW, Smackdown, ECW, ect) they get at least 10 million homes (God knows how many people) plus several millions more world wide tuning in every week.

WWE DVDs and merchandise easily outsell any MMA DVDs or merch ever put out by a VERY wide margin.

The same thing also applies to attendence at events.

This is also not taking into account mainstream success between pro wrestlers and MMA fighters. The difference is night and day.

The ufc has done a good job distancing itself from wrestling, and Hogan is full of shit. To sell fights guys talk trash yes. Randy Couture isn't the #1 contender for the hw title, but he draws good ppv numbers. That would be an example of a "work". But I don't think we will see a ufc fighter come to the ring as a cop or male stripper. Pride has blurred the lines way too much between pro-wrestling and mma(Pancrase too maybe :S), hell if anyone knows Antoni Inoki (the hogan equal in japan I guess) had his retirement match against Don Frye! (in a "shoot" match, that well wasn't a shoot. Ken Shamrock arriving in the wwf didn't help either at the time, but in the long run it helped the ufc. But anyways, lets always remember and reiterate that mma is not pro wrestling.

For now. MMA is just getting off the ground here. Look at the crowds that Pride draws, and pro wrestling is basically dying there, which is why we see some pro wrestling and mma fighters crossing over. Minoru Suzuki pancrase legend) is the All Japan Pro Wrestling champion, hell Sakuraba was a pro wrestler too! Just give it time, the ppv buys for the ufc are allready killing the wwe with the exception of wrestlemania. Plus the wwe has been on cable tv forever and more widely distributed on other networks. The ufc has Spike. In 10-20 years time we'll see the wwe either dead or resembling mma, thus the "worked shoot" concept. Isn't Kimo trying to start this or something? mma with storylines that is. And I read some shit about Kimbo Slice on something of this level.

We are lucky to see our favorite fighter 3 or 4 times a year.

That also shows thw ide gap between the two. The UFC only does UFN like once every 1-2 months and look how low their ratings are compared to RAW. Imagine if they held them every week. Their ratings would be even lower as it would lose its specialness and big event feel.

Sure, I think in a few years time the UFC may very well catch up but I don't think they will ever put the WWE out of business. Same reason why boxing never put WWE and WCW out of business when it was exploding. Its really two different fan bases theat they cater two and are not in direct competition with each other. WWE is simply too big, well run and makes too much money to ever go under.
