Ednaldo Oliveira (13-0-1 MMA, 0-0 UFC) is UFC bound.

MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) today confirmed with event sources that the undefeated UFC newcomer has signed a multi-fight deal with the UFC and will make his promotional debut at UFC 142 in January.

No opponent has been determined for the heavyweight fighter, who is one of current champ Junior Dos Santos' training partners.

UFC 142 takes place Jan. 14 at Rio de Janeiro's HSBC Arena.

The event's main card is expected to air to on pay-per-view, though Oliveira likely will compete on the preliminary card.

Oliveira (whose first name sometimes is spelled "Edinaldo") made his pro debut in 2005 and has been a fixture on Brazil's regional circuit. The heavy-handed Brazilian has picked up eight knockouts in 13 career wins. Most recently, the 6-foot-7 fighter scored a first-round knockout of Nalzinho Novaes. He's fought six times in 2011 with a 5-0 record (and one no-contest due to an eye poke).

The latest UFC 142 card now includes:
Champ Jose Aldo vs. Chad Mendes (for featherweight title)
Vitor Belfort vs. Anthony Johnson
Sam Stout vs. Thiago Tavares
Edson Barboza vs. Terry Etim
Fabio Maldonado vs. Stanislav Nedkov
Mike Massenzio vs. Rousimar Palhares
Siyar Bahadurzada vs. Erick Silva
Ednaldo Oliveira vs. TBA*
This guy sounds good on paper and by record.

Well being a huge mofo at 6,7 helps and also training with JDS helps a lot too, and hes undefeated and is entering a weak division I say all things look good for him.

Put him in there with Travis Browne so someone can expose that bum.

Anyway, great news... we'll obviously have to wait and see how he performs, but it's always exciting to see a new addition to the HW division. The talent is out there... it just need be found.

I don't know if he'll be great, but to be fair, he's beaten the same type of opponents JDS did before he was in the UFC. He beat Jair Goncalves in that video you posted, Geronimo dos Santos, and Joaquim Ferreira who is JDS' only loss. All guys on JDS' resume.

Some people think that they can convey either a philosophy on life or a complex political statement using a signature on the internet. I'm not one of them.

Good point and for sure that's a great start!!
He has a great camp behind him and God knows how the HW division needs more talents.
