UFC plan to head back to Sydney, Australia during the first quarter of 2012

Quote:
In a night of EXCLUSIVES, MMABay.co.uk can reveal that the UFC are planning to head back to Sydney, Australia for their annual event down under during the first quarter of 2012, although an exact date has yet to be disclosed.

We spoke to a source close to the situation early today who revealed fighters have already been approached about competing on the card which is expected to come in the middle of February

The UFC have been to Australia twice recently, with UFC 110 coming in February 2009 headlined by the heavyweight clash between Cain Velasquez and Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira before heading back for UFC 127 in February 2010 with B.J. Penn vs. Jon Fitch. Stay tuned to MMABay for more build-up to this one as we get it.
If its a good card I may go again, I just really dislike Sydney is all, I guess Rampage will fight there because he would only be mid carder in japan since akiyama-shields is co main and bendo-edgar is main. I would like Thiago Silva vs Rampage or Shogun vs Rampage

Must spread rep, otherwise I woulda done it, ya sick ****

On a serious note, Aussie fans are a rowdy bunch, they should at least put together some heavy hitters for them, gotta reward good crowds like that.

...Great news. The Canadiens, Aussies & Brits have the best, most intense, into-it crowds. Even the Brazilians at UFC 134 were incredible. We Americans are a little spoiled and boo WAY too much. Why do we boo? Because of small stalemates---but that's a part of the game. MMA is not all about swinging for the fences and throwing caution to the wind just to please the crowds. I've also noticed when Bruce Buffer yells "FIGHTING! out of the red/blue corner" foreign fans cheer wildly. The crowd getting really pumped and appreciating it makes the events more exciting. There is a truth to be said about other MMA fans around the world...

had some awesome seats there last year so canít wait for the UFC to return.
Shame they didnít get Melbourne sorted as would have liked a trip down.
That said happy to drive the 20klm to acer arena
only hope they put a descent card together. with Japan/double show at the end of February I wonder if this will be a b grade show

either way canít wait to find out

Yeah I would have liked Melbourne, last time I snuck into the vip luxury section when I only had crap seats and got free food and cuisine and free alcohol while seating in box seats, it was awesome and then I saw Mark hunt immediately get his infamous KO over Tuscherer, I wish the Diaz bros and cerrone and those guys get to fight here. Brazil, Aus, Brit, Canadian and some american crowds are simply awesome, I might be going over to the states again to vegas to see Diaz vs GSP

I gotta feeling Rampage vs Bonnar will end up with Evans vs Davis on the Fox 2 card in Chicago..

I guess we have to wait a little bit (hours) to see the TV line-up for Fox 2

It sounds like Sydney will get a March card,

OWNS,

It sounds like the Sydney card is not a PPV card this time out,

March 3, 2012,

Alves Vs Kampmann

http://sports.yahoo.com/mma/news?slu...chedule_112311

"That Japan card will be followed six days later by what is tentatively scheduled as the second FX show, from Sydney, Australia. This would be a Saturday late morning and afternoon show on March 3 broadcast in prime time March 2 in the U.S. No matches have been hinted about for the card. If this goes as planned, it would mark the first time much of the UFC crew will be stationed overseas for an extended period of time, first going to Japan early to promote and put together that show, and head to Australia immediately after the show."
