Here's an argument though Randy picks fights which are winnable. He lost to Barnett eons ago, but got an immediate title shot against Tim Sylvia. Go figure...

Hendo held two Pride belts and zero UFC belts, but has just beaten the best HW in the world and is on the craziest winning streak of his career!

We'll discuss again when he retires. If Hendo wins the UFC LHW title then it's an easy yes.
He also won the HW belt twice. But really thinking about it more, Dan has fought and beat the overall better competition. So even with the UFC titles, I'm starting to lean more towards Dan.

Yeah his wins are better and he was a better athlete, better amateur wrestler, better person outside of the cage. I am applying the Silva/GSP rationale as well finishing in spectacular fashion matters and Randy can't compete with Hendo's KOs of Bisping, Fedor, and Wandy.

DO NOT forget what Randy has done foe the sport.. I believe Hendo is better but Couture is more important for the sport. Couture won them all except from a MUCH MUCH bigger Brock Lesnar. Hendo lost from Anderson and from Shields (!!!!!!!). As i said, if i were Hendo i would kill for a rematch with Shields. It's something that you don't want it in your CV when you have beat Fedor..

If you were to ask is Dan Henderson a better fighter I'd say without a doubt yes. But that's not the same question. Both have had two periods during their careers where they have been next level legendary. Couture when he was LHW champ and then came back to become HW champ, and Hendo when he KOd Wanderlei and now.

If Hendo could win a title, it would do so much for his legacy. But he needs to drop to 185 to do that because Jon Jones is just not someone he's going to beat.
Hiro pretty much nailed here... to simply paraphrase.

UFC Career = Randy Couture
MMA Career = Dan Henderson

Had Henderson won both unification fights with Rampage and Silva then he would be GOAT undoubtedly.

Just to play some devil's advocate here:

What do these fights all have in common?

Hendo v. Newton

Hendo v. Big Nog I

Hendo v. Ninja

Hendo v. Kondo

Hendo v. Bustamante II

Hendo v. Misaki I

Hendo v. Franklin

Randy wouldn't catch the teeth that are knocked out of his skull this time around.

edit: How are close competitive fights for Hendo ones he didn't deserve to win but Vera beating the shit out of Randy is only questionable. All Randy did that entire fight was hug Vera and get beat down.

Think I would go with Hendo too.

Was sort of surreal in the Shogun fight when he was in Zombieland staggering around with his hands at his sides with a body language that said "H_ll, I'm too exhausted to lift my arms up to protect my face, just go ahead & punch me in the face, just like hitting an iron bar anyway".

That Hendo is one tough Hombre....Shogun too as he showed in that fight.

I don't get it.
The UFC is the original MMA organisation that has been the mainstay of organisations throughout the years, it is the only big MMA org left with no substantial competition and looks like that will remain the case for years to come.

Yes Randy did have some gift title shots, but he fought the best at 205 at the time. The UFC title is the most important one there is and the one that will be remembered. I don't see how anyone can be considered the G.O.A.T. when they have not won a UFC title. Especially when they have fought in the UFC and lost the title opportunities they had.

I am glad someone else picked up on this, I discussed it in my first post as well. Hendo has LOADS of very questionable victories and his record would look patchy if even half of those split decision wins were losses.
