People have been calling Overeem a can crusher for a long time. Sometimes though you have to consider how shallow the division is. When you aren't in the UFC you have to take what you can get to make as much money as you can.

Another thing I always took into consideration when watching Overeem over the last few years is how much his striking has progressed technically. Even if you are fighting less than stellar competition you can still recognize good technique.

I called Lesnar vs. Overeem perfectly and I think I can do the same for JDS vs Overeem: Overeem, round 2, tko. I see the Reem taking it slow in the first because, unlike Brock, JDS has excellent boxing. I see Overeem keeping him at range and using kicks right from the get go. After JDS starts getting frustrated he will rush in and get countered, backed up, and finished with knees and strikes against the cage.

What do you guys think?

But if Brock was always a can then does that make Carwin and Mir cans? That's what I am referring to when I say the division is just shallow. Unfortunately Brock is not a can in the HW division. The division just happens to be 5 years behind the rest of mma because the talent pool of 250lb dudes with talent is thin.

We still see guys like Carwin and Rogers in high profile fights and they are not even full time fighters. They have freakin' day jobs!

The truth is probably not.

Lesnar is just another questionable win on his resume.

So he has beaten Brett Rogers and then Todd Duffee and now Brock Lesnar?? All guys that had some luck but in reality could only perform given the right opponents. We really dont know how Lesnar would have fared against some of the other HW but imo not very well. So no people wont and until Lesnar beats a PROVEN well rounded HW that wont change.


BTW predicting this fight was very 50/50. Either you thought Lesnar will take him down and smash or you thought Overeem would stuff it and win the standup quick.

Just because someone predicted this fight doesnt mean they will predict Overeem/JDS correctly. There is no reason to think they would. But its a game of percentages so you definitely could. Anyway good luck i guess.

Carwin beat Carwin.
As for Mir, he's not very stable, you never know when he's in for the best or for the worst.

Not a Brock's hater here.
I only hate (if so) Chael "the scumbag" Sonnen.

The thing is Brock would probably lose to 7 or 8 guys in the top 10 if he had to fight them.

Brock came back from diverticulitis twice.

You guys have no idea what a bad ass MAN he is. Most of you will find out after age 50.

It hit me at 44. I had already quit training due to neck injuries but, I can tell you NOTHING could have gotten me to go back and volunteer to take body shots after it struck. NOTHING. It absolutely feels as if your guts will explode if you got hit. That feeling doesn't go away soon.

Brock is a badass MAN. But, the Brock that Overeem beat is a mere shadow of the man he once was.

My hat's off to Brock.

Yes. I'll admit. I was wrong saying Overeem is overrated. He does have some nasty skillset and one of the top HW fighter in term of standup.

But that doesnt change the fact that JDS is going to KO him comes their fight.

I believe most people consider Brock a "can", when taking about his fighting skills and his ability to get hit.

I don't think there are a lot of people questioning his desire, his ambition and his perseverance, in trying to succeed in this sport, having very little experience prior to his debut.
Plus, his comebacks after 2 surgeries: big respect for the guy.

At the end of the day though, I still think he was vastly overhyped and thrown in a "swimming pool" that was a but to deep for him in the end.
The hype was so powerful it even had him convinced he is the best out there.

I also believe he could have achieved great things in this sport if he would have started training 7-8 years ago.

I wouldn't go as far as saying Lesnar is a can. He is still a great fighter and Overeem is just something unreal. Isn't he the only man who didn't get taken down by Brock? And Brock seemed to react pretty good for the punches tbh, he ate some good shots.

Anyway, i'm sure Overeem will get a lot more respect now than he did before.
