Does Frank Mir Deserve a Title Shot After Defeating Nogueria

I think he deserves a title shot. He has 3 convincing victories in a row now, KO'ed Cro Cop, one sided decision victory against Roy Nelson and submitted Big Nog impressively.

He deserve to fight the winner of Dos Santos/Overeem for the belt.

My first reaction is to have him fight cain or Shane again and if he beats Shane and give alistar the shot. However I would like to see alistar have one moe fight before a title shot.

Here is how think the HW should play out

JDS vs Mir. For title
Cain vs alistar for#1 contender
Carwin vs big country

You think Mir deserves a title shot before Overeem? I'll admit his last win was impressive, but he was getting tooled standing up with Big Nog before getting a sub out of nowhere, and had a boring fight against Nelson before that. Whereas Overeem just battered the #3 ranked HW in the world. And Big Country is already signed up to fight Werdum in 2 weeks

Orrigionaly I would agree with you however when you step back and look at that Overeem's victory was not that impressive. Brock was overweight, out of shape, and completely unmotivated because he knew that was going to be his last fight and his head wasn't in the game. He was already mentally defeated before he stepped foot in the cage and I think any top heavy weight would have one that fight.

I'd say Mir is close to another title shot. While most guys in the HW division really only need a couple of wins to catapult themselves to a title shot, the reality is the Crocop and Nelson fights were very unimpressive. Maybe people forgot about them because of what he did to Big Nog, but I didn't. We have seen what happens if he can't get the fight to the ground, and it ain't pretty. I think he needs another win against a high profile guy, specifically someone with decent TDD and see how he does.

Not yet, his fight with cro-cop was terrible up until the knee, and his fight with Nelson wasn't anything amazing. Nog was killing him on the feet and almost had him finished before he got that miracle sub. I want to see him at least beat Cain or Carwin before i even consider him for a title shot.

I would like to see a rematch with Carwin first, He probably has as much claim to a title shot as anyone else except Overeem,

And if that's the case, he won't be getting a shot. Mir pulled a miracle sub out of his ass. How short your memory seems to be... did you forget 30 seconds before the miracle sub, he was all but TKFO?

I'd have to disagree here.

Before Alistair signed he was offered a straight shot for the title, he declined and took on Brock. He was the SF HW champ, no need for him to face Mir yet.

Mir looked poor up until he got the flash KO on Cro Cop. His one sided victory on Big Country wasn't that impressive, considering both looked extremely gassed on their feet and Nog was killing him standing (and IMO should never went for the Sub, he had Mir dead to rights).

Mir needs to face Carwin again... a fight he'll probably lose again the same way. Cain also lost the title, he can't just become a #1 contender again with his first fight back.

Just my 2 cents.
