If I was Bisping's coach I would be telling him to try and get the take down first. Bisping actually has some decent GnP from the top, and wrestlers hate being put on their back. If Bisping tries his usual stick and run, Chael will just drive him to the fence and pull his legs out from under him and win the round. IMO Bispings best chance is to go unconventional and go for the take down first.
I thought about this until I realised Cheal has proberbly spent a lot of time in camp drilling TDD and Mike will have spent zero time practicing takedowns due to their opponents. I'd just tell him to steer well away.
What does Bisping really have to offer Chael besides footwork? Power? No, even if he did, Nate Marquardt, Anderson Silva, and Brian Stann all tagged Sonnen and he literally walked right through them en route to taking them down and punching them in the face.
His ground game? The fight would have to get to the ground first and Sonnen has enough power and very underrated boxing, I think he can win the stand up because Bisping will have to resort to throwing strictly punches because if he throws a kick he runs the risk of Sonnen grabbing a hold of him and putting him on the ground.
His scrambles and defensive guard, being able to reverse, sweep and butterfly guys with excellent top control like Kang. On the feet he has a speed and technical advantage.
It's a tough fight for Bisping, but I also think 4:1 is a bit ridiculous.
Henderson didn't attempt one takedown, so there goes that argument. The world, minus England, knows who truly won between Bisping and Hamill. And Evans, still relatively green at the time, took home a victory as he was able to outwork Bisping on the ground... so I don't get where the 'Rashad couldn't control Bisping' remarks are coming from, as that's precisely what he did.
Listen... all hooligans, limeys, and dandies. I know you have to represent your boy. But the truth is, this fight will not be close. Not only will Sonnen outwork Lord Bisping on the ground, but I'd be willing to bet he'll outwork him on the feet, as well. This guy stood toe-to-toe with Anderson freaking Silva and got the better of him. Talk about 'how soon we forget'.
We need be realistic and forget foolish things like pride and patriotism. I'm Canadian, but you don't see me touting John Makdessi as the next LW Champion. All I have are GSP and Rory MacDonald to make my country look amazing. So please, England, stop placing all of your chips on Sir Michael when you have plenty of actual talent such as... errrr... well....
I think most fans in the UK would happily agree Hamill won that fight, there really isn't any need for the UK bashing that you put in EVERY SINGLE one of your posts.
My point is that people think this fight will look exactly like Koscheck/Daley, and I don't think it will. Bispings BJJ and TDD are underrated as is Chaels boxing.
I think if Bisping keeps it standing Chael will surprise him with how good his stand up is. And if Chael tries to wrestle**** Bisping he'll be surprised by how hard he finds it, especially if Bisping has been working with the likes of Jake shields like he says. That's just how I see it but by all means call me a delusional limey...
