Imperial Athletics - What The Hell?

Santiago - Looks awful, cut from the UFC.

Bigfoot Silva - KO'ed by Cormier whose a legit top ten Heavyweight but the way he got put out? Come on son...

Rumble Johnson - Misses weight badly, gets subbed, gets cut.

Guillard - Looks like a force at Jackson's, starts to spend time at Imperial, loses his first fight in years, goes there full time, loses again after dominating.

I understand camps go through this and Guillard was expected because he sucks in general but Jesus Christ, can you imagine if Rashad loses to Phil Davis?

What is wrong with those people?

Too many big ego's in one camp with no one to put them in check. I bet their training was nothing but them having giant circle jerks.

Of course I don't know any of them personally, but it seems like they're great at padding each other on the back and praising each other (Probably why so many prospects have joined them, because it feels nice)

What they should be doing is working on their weaker areas and push each other... It's a sad situation, because these guys have the talent to be one of the best teams out there and yet - for some reason they're coming up short

If you look at all the fights you mentioned I'd have had each of the IA guys as underdogs. No surprises they lost. Rashad on the other hand I have a big favourite, and he'll win.

Oh come on, people are looking into this WAAY too much. Yes, a lot of Imperial Athletics members have lost, but what I have always loved about combat sports as opposed to football, rugby and basketball, is that when you put your skills and athleticism to the test, you're the only one in there. It's just you and your opponent.

It wasn't imperial athletics in there with Guillard, it was Guillard, and as much as I respect the guy, he is renowned for being fairly inconsistent. Anthony Johnson has always been a tad bit overrated to me. He got found out by The Koscheck and seems more content in fighting natural WW and women as opposed to guys closer in mass to him. Big Foot had battered FEDOR into a doctor stoppage prior to Cromier getting knocked out.

The run through imperial athletics ends with Rashad. Rashad's going to put a stop to this once and for all.

When you look at that list of guys, its not like they developed there defensive liabilities recently. Melvin has always been prone to getting subbed, Johnson has been known to fold when he gets pushed, Bigfoot has always been big and slow, and Santiago has always had a weak chin and was never really good enough to compete with the best. These guys have always had the same problems, they are nothing new.

Yes these problems have been there for a while but NO ONE ever thought Bigfoot would look as awful as he did against Cormier coming off that Fedor win in what was his best performance.

It seems to be a trend, these guys looked great, even Santiago was looking great, but then they go to Imperial and they go all the hell, their problems appear to be worse than they ever were before Guillard and Rumble being the two biggest examples.

I was never a guy to buy into the Santiago hype (or any fighter who goes on a good streak in Japan). I didnt see Cormier knocking bigfoot out like that, but I did think it was going to be a tough match up for him. Bigfoot didnt have much of a chance of getting Cormier down and I thought their stand up would be pretty even going into that fight.
