I know people in the industry, it's a job, just purely a job, that's why it's so easy for me to not judge them. It's just numbers in the bank to them. Lets see the dude fight, he looks a solid favourite on paper.

Being in porn isn't a criminal record and shouldn't be treated as such. You've beat it to porn before so you don't have any right to decry someone based on their work in it. It's certainly not a reason to keep someone from pursuing what they actually love to do.
He made some porn flicks. Who gives a rat's ass? What difference does it make? Does it make him a worse role model than any number of other fighters? No. He had a job. Accept it. Now deal with it like an adult and get the **** over it.

On a personal level, I don't really care about any of this. If he can fight, he can fight and that's the end of it; however suggesting that this doesn't make him a worse role model than any number of other fighters just doesn't sit well with me.
Melvin Guillard used to be a crackhead and other fighters such as Quinton have had their run ins with the law. Diaz openly smokes MJ. I really take issue with that as well because children that are watching the sport look up to these fighters because they are talented and do not have the intellect to realize that they are just people that make mistakes too. Children idolize fighters and put them up on a pedestal and it's hard for them to realize that these guys aren't always what they seem to be.
I think Rampage and Diaz are great and entertaining fighters, but good role models?
Sure I can sit here and separate the two and recognize talent regardless of what faults a man has, but does being a pornstar set a good example for children?
I suppose the answer to that question is completely subjective. If you admire the work of pornstars, gay or straight, and would want your children, grandchildren, future children etc. to follow in those footsteps then I guess this wouldn't be an issue.
I for one think being a pornstar is one step above prostitution on the streets only because there is some protection against sexually transmitted diseases in the form of regular testing, but we all know that doesn't even work sometimes.
Anyways, as Reverend Lovejoy's wife would say...

Obviously, I understand that MMA is a respectable sport, which consist of talent, skill and huge discipline (to be successful at it) and I know what you're saying, but if we're talking about proper role models, in theory, smoke MJ or not, be a crackhead or not, do porn or not, what kind of a role model to children is a guy who beats up others for a living?

Well I personally believe he should be kicked off the show, homosexuality is immoral and he should not be given the chance to spread his liberal hate and infringe upon the american family his beliefs as an inferior human being.
The show is about fighting and the fact that he is even allowed to compete is wrong, I will not watch this season of TUF if he is not removed.

That is a whole different can of worms my friend lol. The counter argument to that would be the respect, discipline and camaraderie assocaited with MMA. Unfortunately, that not always the image that is portrayed by a handful of fighters.
I completely see what you are saying though.
EDIT: Just wanted to quickly add to this.
Unfortunately media, as we know, largely influences what people view. Focus should be on role models within one's community such as doctors saving lives, or volunteer workers at your local food bank etc., but we all know this is not reality. Basketball players that put an orange ball through a hoop for millions of dollars and fighters that try to knock each other's heads off is what children see everyday on television.

Then as a homosexual I find that view narrow-minded, ignorant and totally offensive.
But you're a quality poster, for the most part, so I'll leave it.
