The fact that Faber supported Marcello when he said he was going to stand with Lawrence kind of showed that Faber was more of a biased friend that over estimates his boy, rather than a coach who wants his fighter to get the win. Faber basically told him to go for it and seemed to have all of the confidence in the world that it was a good idea when it was obvious that Lawrence was a superior striker before and during the fight. He couldn't have thought Marcello's tentative stand up and lazy leg kicks were effective. Questionable coaching for sure, at least right there anyway.
I would have told my fighter to let go of his pride and to remember what brought him to where he is. Standing with a younger, faster, and better striker is not a good idea. Shouldn't worry about offending your fighter or hurting their feelings. Cruz doesn't seem to mind doing that too much.
