Cant really pin point a winner this season.

The season preview at the end looks good though! I'm ready. Even if the fights are uneventful, we are in for some good reality tv... and theres not much of that anymore

The Sam Alvey knock out was brutal. There are a couple of interesting fighters honestly and most of them are on Carwin's side. The drama in the house looks like it might actually keep me entertained this season. And Carwin is still a robot.

Wasn't too impressed with any of the guys on the feet. Most the guys who looked like they could throw a punch got wrapped up pretty quick. Some of the ground game though looked pretty sweet, but to be honest any decent fighter in the US is going to be scouted into the UFC before they get into the Ultimate Fighter. It's like a gateway to get into the UFC at the lowest level.

I think I saw a buffed out version of Dan Hardy, Stefan Struve, and Dave Camarillo, on the show.

Carwin should have this. He's got the much better camp and solid fighters although Roy may have wanted to prove a point by picking the first fight.

Some decent fights in there. I was surprised to see Michaud so passive when it came to wrestling. He even looked like he got out grappled a lot. I heard he was supposed to be the most decorated wrestler on the show, so that was a little odd. I guess that's MMA for you.

Colton was kind of a jerk. When Nelson calls him out on just going for the take down right during the glove touch, he just chuckles and says "sorry, I didn't mean too." What are you talking about? You put your glove up, and right as the guy was raising his hand, you shot in on him and put him on his back. That's blatant poor sportsmanship. You obviously knew what you were doing.

Also, that guy who beat Max Griffin. It looked pretty clear in the first round, that he was holding on to Griffin's glove for dear life so Griffin couldn't get away from him. Even Dana White noticed it. I'm surprised the referee didn't call him out on it. It was very noticeable considering Griffin pretty much got away, but only his hand was really stuck. It was like a game of "tug of war" that looked ridiculous. I've been in that guys situation before. When you're on your back and only have a guys hand to keep him from getting up onto his feet and away, it's extremely hard to stop him from escaping. Using his glove for leverage would help you a lot. However, it's against the rules to grab your opponents gloves or shorts.

I understand it's a big opportunity and none of these guys want to lose it, but I hope cheating isn't going to be common this season.

Other than that, I see some decent fighters on the show. Alvey looks promising and is a big guy. He's fought at light heayweight, but is competing as a welterweight. It makes me wonder how his conditioning will be, but at least his power is still there.

Yeah that guy is not a good example for MMA to be putting on national tv. It didn't cause Nelson to pick him last even though he called the guy a 'douche' for it. I still had fun watching the preliminary round and that video makes the entire season look like pretty much par for TUF course.

The 5 i was impressed with were Alvey, Ricci, Diffley, Chaney & Waters (in that order).

Carwin is gonna piss this season, his team is much better than big country's. Roy better pick some good stylistic fights!

#15 ·
The only person who impressed me was Waters. Even when Alvey, his stance and pressure didn't seem good, he just landed a nice punch really.

Just say that Nelson has both Diaz brothers in his camp. While it's my #1 & #2 all time favourites, why BOTH? Both Nick and Nate fight the EXACT same, so what is having both of them training going to help?

He's a fight fan. He seees two dudes grappling with no damage happening and it annoys him. He wants to see the same exciting fights that we want to see. He's speaking his mind, and if he didn't enjoy the fight and found it boring, then so be it. Should we all have loved Kongo's last fight because it showed an array of grappling skills?

This may be the first season I skip. I can't recall being overly impressed by anyone, and the dramatics in the house have always left me rolling my eyes. I don't really see the 'entertainment value' in watching a few hicks get plastered and taking out their anger on inanimate objects. Too many unintelligent meatheads and far too little talent this season, imo.

Roy vs. Carwin itself I'll certainly tune in for.
I actually had an arguement with someone telling me that it doesnt have enough drama anymore lmao. I don't mind the drama because it lets me know the fighters. I like watching fights, but theres nothing better than actually knowing the fighters and having favourites based off of that. I want Vitor to beat Jones because Vitor is a legend and Jones is an ass. The drama kind of gives you some insight into the fighters and allows you to have favourites, but essentially it all boils down to the action inside the cage.

The guy who did the fake touch gloves said he didnt mean to, i can believe it - i done it in sparring once and busted a guys nose.... although the speed of which i threw the shot after the touch seems to get smaller each time i see him  But it was somewhat quick on my part, sometimes you are just raring to go.

Well he had no problem accepting the take down and position that he unfairly got. If that were me, I would have let the guy up and apologized. (It's not like fighters haven't apologized during a fight before) I'd feel like if I potentially won off of that unfair move (who knows, he could potentially have.), it would tarnish my win and I'd feel bad for my opponent who was probably training just as hard and needed the win as much as I did. I'd feel like I unfairly robbed him and that's not the kind of guy I want to be.

Besides, it's different to throw a quick punch in a sparring session than it is to shoot a take down in an actual fight that matters so much to both fighters. It also takes a little bit more effort to shoot in for a take down than it does to throw a punch in my opinion. I don't think he didn't mean too, but that's just my opinion as well. Who knows, it's still shady either way.

Its not great and he will somewhat pay for it - dont help the other guy though...High pressure situation though, cant say what i would of done in his place after the "mistake" I agree he should of done that, but its hard to give up that position in the fight of your life so far.

I feel bad for Cameron. He subs probably every wrestler in the house, and Roy puts him against a stand up fighter. If he had some more confidence, perhaps after a win or two, he would be able to go for more takedowns which, wether successful or not, engages grappling and potentially submissions and he would do a lot better.

Neil looked quite good. His takedown defence, although I dont think he got put on his back, looked a little weak and against an actual wrestler I see him having a lot of problems. He has long legs though so he might be able to sink in a triangle or something. On the feet though he looks smart and composed so he might do well this season.

Nelson is an awful coach.

a few thoughts.

- Julian is a dickhead
- Roy is kinda slacking off his coaching gig, from the footage at least.
- Does Carwin have a sense of humour, at all? Dude is like the terminator.

#27 ·
Julian is a dick but I sort of prefer him to everyone on the other team. Usually thhe cocky guys with the stupid hair and the ones I hate most but it just seems like this season is jam packed with arseholes.

I'm starting to HATE Roy through this. I thought Roy was going to be the hilarious dude who I insantly side with, and Carwin was going to be, well how he is, and it would come off badly against Roy. I always thought Roy was the man, but watching this he's lazy as fuuuuk. I mean you'd expect it, but his fighting ethic made it seem as though he wasnt. But he doesnt seem to give a fuk about anyone this season and cant be bothered doing any of the work, even down to the fight pick which he should have been so excited to choose. From day one when he was saying "I dont care about having exciting fights" to making stupid decisions with Cameron and Julian, he's just an awful coach and it sucks for his team.

Roy is an awful coach, if he didn't make weight he should have said something at the weigh ins! What the **** did he expect Dana to do?

By the way at 3:20 of the first was that a knee to the nuts of Julian? Sounded he got him in the cup and that's why he screamed.

#29 ·
I wondered that myself, it was a little weird that he screamed like that, but the knee was pretty solid. Honestly I don't give a shit though, I was glad to see him lose and cry. I hate all these guys that don't work and try to make it as fighters with no back up plan. I really hate it when they have family. It's pathetic. Be a man.

Equipment malfunctions, I recall their being a weight calibration issue during one of the shows. I remember it distinctly because I lost credits on the V:Bookie bet as someone seemed like they were out of shape when they weren't.

A bit of a late response on Alvey vs. Rivera. I admit I sort of expected too much out of Alvey after a single fight on the show.

One question surfaces for me. I don't understand White's reason for picking Alvey to beat Rivera easily. He based his pick off of their first fights. Alvey had a quick one punch knock out while Rivera won a grinder, so White assumed Alvey would walk through Rivera. Why? Completely different fights and Dana should know by now that quick knock out artists have been known to flop big time in the UFC once they actually face adversity. Not that Alvey is just a knock out artist, but White seemed to base his prediction off that one fight so he might as well be. Just a weird prediction by Dana White in my opinion. I picked Alvey to win too, but not because he looked more impressive in one fight that was a completely different kind of fight, and I wasn't thinking that it was an easy pick either.

That being said, I was disappointed with Sam's performance. He had the same stance in his first fight on the show, but I figured he stood like that because it was still early into round one. In his fight against Rivera, he had the same exact stance and he didn't seem to change it much even after Joey was clearly winning on the score cards. Sam just stood straight up and was throwing one punch at a time looking for that knock out. Not sure if he was being lazy, or if that's just how he fights. If so, this guy needs to learn some footwork.

I think White assumed that Alvey a LHW cutting down two weight classes would run over Nelson's biggest guy Rivera. What they didn't take into account is the quick turnaround between fights (and weight cuts) obviously took a heavy toll on him. He reminded me of Cole Miller at Featherweight, just slow awkward and quick to gas.

Really this was Shane Carwin's fault, that was a bad fight for Alvey and he made it so that none of his other guys would face off against Nelson's biggest wrestler.

I don't see why everyone thought alvey was so good. He was getting ****ed up a little bit before he landed one punch and won to get into the house. How that qualifies him to be a first pick is beyond me. I didn't expect him to lose but I was by no means shocked. You shouldn't be a first pick if your fight goes thirty seconds. You just don't show enough.

I think if Ricci can deal with a big wrestler or two, which I assume he can he trains at tristar, he will win it all.
