It begins! I've got a good feeling about this season.

i only want andrews to get a wild card or a quarter final birth and maybe hester but i like team sonnen way mor ei wouldn't mind no one on that team advancing since hart is the only one to win for team jones

They said last night he was banged up so I doubt Team Jones would push for him to get a wild card fight.

My theory on what happens, someone gets KO'd next week, Cummings and Hester move onto the quarters and Casey/Bubba is the Wild Card fight. They pretty much made this episode all about how great Bubba was and building him up as a Wild Card I don't think they would have done that if he wasn't the guy.

But the good news, Dana said he and everyone this season is fighting on the finale, if he draws Cummings in the first they should give him a winnable fight to actually get a contract.

I think all of them will fight in the ufc. They won't all fight in the finale though.

Usually the coaches only train with whoever makes it to the finale. Brock trained with Tony Ferguson(Brock might have covered expenses). I think there were a few other cases, don't really remember.

Kelvin reminds me of cain velasquez.

Another exciting season. I cant wait to see the drama between the fighters and coaches. Once Sonnen gets a little more comfortable around the camera i expect him to start actin a fool; hopefully he tries to rap!

Josh said his neck is sore. SMH i think he was just being honest with the coaches but in this sport everyone is injured so i think unless it is a serious injury staing injuries is looked down on

Yeah. Chael really isn't that impressive...and his philosphies on fighting are pretty bad(Don't worry about defense guys!)....yeah says the guy whos been submitted about 8 times.

The best coach was Brock....the way he was able to coach a guy like Chris Cope on his takedown defense was impressive to me...especially since Cope is a terrible fighter.

Says a guy who doesn't even fight. I will keep calling you out until you back your ish up. Lets see some proof of your alleged fights please.

In the meantime I will correct you and say that, while you obviously shouldn't eschew defense entirely, Chael is absolutely right to advocate that it take backseat to offense. This is true for a number of reasons.

First and foremost, at a lower level of competition, aggression is arguably the biggest factor in winning a fight. Hell, even at higher levels, pressure can make the difference between the winner and loser. There aren't many fighters who are so skillful that they can allow their opponents to take the lead and still come out on top.

Furthermore, Chael only has a finite amount of time to actually correct technique. I have no doubt that he's trying to do so, but at the end of the day, pressure and aggression can go a long way in covering up flaws. Encouraging an offense-oriented mindset and strategy is literally the most time-efficient course of action he can take.

Another thing to consider is that this is a 2-round exhibition. The fight is only 2/3 as long as usual, so there's less time to assert your game and make an impression on judges. The sooner you get the lead, the better, especially when your opponent has less time than usual to catch up.

And last, but certainly not least, THIS IS TUF! Charging through the gates and leaving it all out there is your best bet for creating an exciting fight, and not only impressing the judges, but impressing Dana. Even if you don't win, you're probably going to up your chances at getting on the wild card if you go balls to the wall. Especially since Dana never fails to mention, season after season, that he's most impressed by those who go out to make (and finish) an exciting bout.

Chael is an intelligent veteran. There is great reasoning behind his strategies, which are fueled by his experience in the cage against top-shelf competition. Of course a wannabe like you wouldn't grasp the wisdom behind his methods.

And yeah, still waiting on that proof, 'Mr. Undefeated.'

All of that aside, I freaking LOVE Chael Sonnen as a coach and a TV personality. Instead of focusing only on the physical, technical, and even strategic components of the game, Chael seems to emphasize supporting his fighters psychologically.

First season I've bothered to watch in ages!

the RNC such an easy sub to defend too, just shows you how cocky and crappy bubba really is which isn't surprising as i picked kelvin to win

This is the first season I think I've enjoyed more for the fighters that are in it and the actual fights (only watched since TUF Heavyweights series) as opposed to the house antics and animosity between the coaches. I was at least expecting some fake arguments between Jones and Sonnen but there's been none of that really. There's barely been much house activity either really.

Sonnen is coming across as a great guy in this, very motivational speaker IMO.

Only just watched the last episode and I'm glad Bubba lost as well, really didn't think Kelvin would win but he had heart and proved me wrong though I still don't think he'll progress much further.

Now I just want to see Tor smash Josh and I'll be happy :)

I kind of like Josh and Urijah they both seem real and flawed. Urijah from the kids at school and Josh from his mother. With Urijah it feels like he thinks he's in an 80's movie and he just wants to crush Cobra Kai or the mean ski instructor. And as this is what he wants it's messing everyone else around him. On the other hand Josh clearly has some mommy issues, it seems like everything he does and says is to get approval from her.

So Tor gets KO'd and now only Kevin Casey, Bubba and maybe Gilbert(might have been 30 days since the KO) could be wild cards. While the tournament is sort of a done deal I'm really hyped for the finale because these guys are going to be fighting for those contracts and some of these first round KO guys have a real shot at making an impact.
