Serra def saved the concept thats for sure. Lutter made it out to be a complete joke when he couldn't make weight. Serra just went out there and made the best of his opportunity and won. I got MAD respect for Matt Serra for doing what he just did.
Also, there will probably be another Comeback special now that Serra captured the title.

I still think it was a bunch of garbage to give them a title shot. Serra got lucky with punching and I dont think he will be a true champ. He will lose the belt very soon. I think having a "television show winner champ" is bad for the sport. You should have to earn your way to a shot, beating respectable opponents along the way (other contenders not comeback people), and then beat the champ to get the belt. Just my opinion but that is how I feel about the whole thing.

Well, I personally think Serra doing what he did is sort of crazy. I think it was cool they did this deal once, but I would never do it again if I was the UFC.

Not disrespecting the older fighters but they were too mature and didnt piss eachother off at all and there were no big rivalries.
To get TV ya need contraversy or drama. TUF 4 had neither.

I enjoyed Tuf 4 it was pretty kool, I had stated earlier that his victory hasnt made the show look like a complete waste.
The thing about the contenders on that show is that they mostly only fight each other and pretty much always lose, I mean I bet on Spratt this last time, and he got pissed on, Pete Sell got beat, Scott Smith was defeated by Cote so that really doesnt count towards a 'complete victory' because they're really not beating anyone outside of that house, unless your Matt Serra.

Lutter turned out to be a dud, but Serra turned into a star. Seriously, this did a whole 'lot to help Matt Serra's popularity, and you know what? Good. Sure, I about crapped my pants when he destroyed GSP, but Serra's a likeable guy, so I'm not all bummed about it. Shocked? Yes, but bummed? No.
I enjoyed some parts of TUF 4(Carter vs Clementi for example), but a lot of it was just dull. I mean, I don't give 2 shits about Edwin DeWees or Gideon Ray, so watching them wallow in their mediocrity was tough to watch.

Dude, there are other fighter who did a lot less to earn a title shot! For example, Anderson Silva only beat Chris Leban to get a shot at Rich Franklin. Matt Hughes is getting a title shot next and all he did was win a boring decision against Chris Lytle (Same as Serra). Sean Sherk beats Nick Diaz, a man coming off a loss against Joe Riggs and Diego Sanchez, and he is no. 1 contender for the lightweight title. Then we have Randy Couture who was just givin a title shot after coming out of retirement. So how are they different from Matt Serra?
Also, Matt Serra deserves to be the champion wheter you like it or not. He just beat a man who was considered to be the no.1 WW in the world in a very dominating fashion. How is that bad for the sport?

Yea really people need to stop shitting on Serra because he didnt earn the title the more common way. And whats with this negative shit towards the reality show? The fighters dont deserve any respect because they had to work their way to top on a tv show? So ****en what I dont see TuF as a reality series I see it as a UFC event every week and am interested in it and want to see it as much as a title fight.
Matt Serra deserves that title.
He is a fighter that you can see growing all the time, he is always different in his fights, you can pin all your arguements to the TuF 4 finale, but do it in a fair way and compare it to 2002 Matt Serra, compare it to 2007 Matt Serra
Now for the reality of the matter for those against Serra, he is forever solidified in UFC history with that title so get used to it cause as long as there are welterweights, people are going to remember Matt Serra.
