Best fight in TUF history, yeah right

It might be just me, but the fight tonight that was suppose to be the best fight of all 5 seasons was not what I expected. The standup was boring and when it went to the ground it was one sided. I was expecting an all out brawl with lots of blood, like Griffen/Bonner. Not saying blood makes a fight good or anything, but from the way they were talking I expected someone to get hurt bad. I wasn't really impressed with either fighter standing or on the ground. What did you guys think of the fight.

agreed.. the stand up was sloppy and the ground was completely one sided. severely disappointed by the fight

Sanchez vs Koscheck was so much better. I mean, seriously, you'd think Dana would remember that fight since he referenced it not too long ago.

That being said, I dug it, but I didn't think "Wow, that freakin' blew my mind!" because it didn't.

Clementi vs Carter was better as well, and I dug Bonnar vs Swick more, as well. I mean, Swick vs Bonnar was short, but it ruled.

Yea that fight was a let down. I cant believe Dana really thinks that was good. I'm pretty sure they will be better fights than that this season. Emerson didn't even land one good punch the whole fight. He had one decent elbow. Props to Diaz. I thought he had that arm bar for a split second

It was a decent fight, how the **** was it boring? It was a none stop pace and by all means not BORING, but it wasn't great, nor technically good, but it was decent.

The hype got to it and that's what killed this fight.

The best TUF fight will always be Diego Sanchez vs. Josh Rafferty.

the lack of a crowd and announcers plays a HUGE role in whether or not a fight is exciting...

I'm sure if that fight was in front of 20,000 and had goldie and rogan freakin out, people would have different views.

the ground work near the end was exciting.

The 1s rd was pretty dull....Diaz was just feeling out the stand up game and workin his jab range.

The 2nd rd was fairly entertaining and give Diaz some credit he worked his ground game really well and totally dominated.

To say it was the best fight in TUF history was way over the top though.

A) That just goes to show you how weak the TUF fights have been throughout the 5 seasons.

B)Considering Emerson is supposed to be such a great kickboxer and has great sub defense, why didn't he throw more kicks?

Emerson got beat by a bigger, more ground savvy and aggressive opponent.

TUF is not an outlet to find unsigned talent who can compete against the best in the world. It's a draft to find fighters to fill up the UFC's thin divisions. There are only a couple of guys that are even memorable on this season and half of them are memorable because of stupid s*** they do on camera.

I agree with that. If someone is standing in front of you pawing at your left hand, trying to hold it to keep you from jabbing what do you do?

You snap an inside leg kick to his right thigh to keep him from doing that.

I was yelling that at the T.V..... I'm not the only one that does that right?

I was yelling at the TV as well, wondering why the hell Nate Diaz couldn't finish him on the ground. He HAD that armbar, and he just transitioned out of it. He could've ended it right there. What the hell was with all the hype behind Emerson? He had good takedown defense, but other than that, it was completely one-sided.

That arm bar wasn't tight enough so he HAD to transition to a choke. If you watch closely, you can see that Emerson's thumb is not pointing up so the arm wasn't comletelty locked. That's why Emerson was able to roll for the scramble. He got lucky. That armbar looked like he sunk it in deep until Emerson squirmed out of it.

Not the most impressive fight but Diaz was stlking him for both rounds. Emerson barely mounted a real offense. He was lucky in Round 1 that Diaz's stand up wasn't very good in the beginning. That's the only way he could have won round 1.

Like everyone else i agree, think it was way overhyped.

But ya gotta give emerson props the dude was in TROUBLE the whole 2nd round.

He reminded me of BJ penn though.

in the sense he came out in the 2nd round completely exhausted and undertrained for cardio.

all of the fights so far this season have been pretty terrible imo...

going into the 5th season, they're probably running low on talent to recruit for the show
Neither fighter looked experienced or skilled. Diaz has some pretty good ground game but he won on determination and consistency. Emerson played a defensive fight which is why he lost.

I’m surprised that these are supposedly the better fighters on the show.
Please tell me this isn’t the best talent they could find.

I knew Diaz would be skilled on the ground, but his stand-up left me wondering if he's ever actually trained with his brother. Given the fact that he was majorly hyped as a skilled fighter with a similar style to his brothers, I'd say he was a disappointment. Still, that doesn't mean that he can't turn it around in the semi-finals. I hope he and Lauzon hook up for the finals.

If I was fighting Diaz and he stuck his arm out like that to me I would grab it and break it. It's really not that hard to do, but I don't know if it's legal in the UFC to manipulate the other guys wrist or elbow. But, if it was me I would have grabbed it and twisted it, pulled him forward and punched him in the throat.

Harsh but effective:D
