China set for next international edition of TUF...

UFC officials announced today on the UFC-China website that a Chinese version of The Ultimate Fighter is in the works.

The UFC will begin holding tryouts for the show starting next month and continuing in August. UFC is looking for fighters in featherweight, lightweight, and welterweight divisions to try out for the show. The show will air on the Chinese-language Liaoning TV. The show will feature 16 fighters total in the above weight classes.
So obviously Cung Le will be one coach... does anyone know if Mark Munoz or Yushin Okami speak Chinese?

Well Cung Le is the only Chinese star in the UFC, and you would likely need him to coach against someone who speaks the language.

Actually, the only Chinese "star" in the UFC is Zhang Tiequan. Cung Le is a Vietnamese born American. Then I think there are two more Chinese guys currently signed in the UFC, but who haven't fought there yet. Okami is Japanese (those two countries share quite some animosities against each other), Muñoz is Filipino-American.

No offense, but those guys would represent China as much as some Venezuelan or Cuban guy would represent the USA, because they are from the American continent.

1. Zhang Tiequan and his 1-3 record is likely cut.
2. Cung Le main evented the "china" event in Macau
3. Realistically MW division has 3 Asians in the top 15, I would be shocked shocked if they don't go with any of them for some guys that never fought in the UFC.

Zhang has not been cut. The coaches won't be anything overly great. Cung Le makes sense, but Zhang is one of two Chinese fighters they have

definitely no japanese nor South korean coaches.

wonder if they'll play it on any channel in the US?

Stun Gun 07-06-2013 08:15 AM

it will probably be on youtube or something. Loooks like Cung will be a coach

Cung Le is an international star but he's not Chinese, he's Vietnamese. Also no Okami and Munoz don't speak Chinese (racist). Munoz was born on a freaking naval base.

There are some japanese/chinese characters that can be read by people who speak either language.
