emmerson won the fight, corey out scored him. watch it again and count how many times each guy makes contact in the third round. dana likes emmerson so dont feel bad for the guy cuz thats more important than winning. the leg kicks were really slapping corey and i think there was only one that did any damage. just cuz corey lost balance for a sec doesnt mean he was hurt.

anyways im glad corey won cuz i would rather see him fight than emmerson

emerson decisively did more damage. However, in the 10 pt. scoring system its different. I would have given the first rd a tie.. the second emerson won easily and the third was tough. emerson didnt do much for the first 2 min and 45 seconds. corey was pushing the pressure the entire round but i still felt like emerson did more damage.

i personally think emerson won but i am not suprised they gave it to corey

and i agree that wiman or lauzon will win the show

I voted yes, half of it is my personal opinion. That is, I don't feel a fighter should just stand there and do nothing significant, but w/in those 5 minutes throw what... 5 leg kicks?

The other part, is Emerson didn't do anything, but those leg kicks, nothing significant. The scoring system is also based on ocatgon control and aggression - the fact is Corey was pushing forward, Corey was leading the exchanges, and Corey was getting the better of the exchanges.

They both were inimpressive and neither deserve a shot in the UFC after those performances.

I really don't want to watch Emerson fight again... the guy is a counter puncher without a good counter punch.
F'n A. He is is the Pedro Rizzo of the LWs with no KO power. He needs to learn to be aggressive.

I feel bad for Emmerson, man...The guy definitely deserves a spot in the UFC.
How? First fight is an embarrasing, inimpressive lose. His second chance he shows no aggression and does nothing significant. Neither did Corey, but he was more aggressive and pushed the pace. The UFC shouldn't give contracts to fighters based on how people feel for them, they should base it on talent.

If I can have my way, I don't care if they both got the boot out. Corey is just too green to be in the UFC and Emerson had every opportunity to exploit that but chose not to. I was wishing for him to just do what Lauzon did and jump on Corey's back for the choke with or without hooks.

I think Hill won the OT round based on a bit more aggressiveness, but he did not do any damage. While Emerson didn't push as much, his leg kicks did some damage. I think the judges need to go back to school or something. Last time I checked, throwing more and landing little to none of them doesn't make you a winner of a fight. Damage is what matters in my opinion. I don't blame Emerson for being pissed. He should have gone and leg-kicked some of those judges and then asked them if they still thought Hill was the winner.

cory was a big disapoint ment like the guy matt liked when he was on tuff. He had a really slopy style. all emerson had to do was just keep the pressure on and he would have won. cory was sticking his chin out and one high knick would have done it. he will get killed when and if he fights Joe.

Hate to say it but aggressivness is a criteria for scoring the fight and Corey was simply the more aggressive. Lets be honest here if Emerson hasn't gotten the heel hook in the Second round would he have won that round? Probably not as Hill was just pushing more, hence being aggressive and controling the pace of the match so he won. There were multiple times that Emerson could have changed the tide and pressed the action and probably scored more but he didn't I think that goes into the judges thinking too. While each had a piss poor showing Corey had the less piss poor showing.

Meh, wouldnt get too bent out of shape over it guys, Corey aint goin any further in the competition.

I personally thought Corey won, he pushed the fight for the most part and all Emerson was doin was counter punching, I dont understand how he thought he won,

1st rd: Corey he pushed the fight and landed more.
2nd rd: Emerson easily
3rd rd: Corey, he landed more boring jabs than Emerson did kicks.

I still don’t understand what Emerson was thinking, Corey had no KO power in his punches, all Emerson had to do was be more aggressive with some overhand rights and throw down a few more lag kicks and he would have walked through Corey with ease.

Does anyone notice how gun shy Emerson is, looking away when he swings because he doesn’t want to get caught? No wonder few if any of his punches land. You have to be willing to eat a few jabs and glancing blows to get inside and really do some damage. Emerson looks like he would have dominated if he would have been able to get it on the ground.

None of this matters because it looks like Joe Lauzon will easily take the entire thing. This kid is extremely comfortable in the octagon and pushes the pace from the beginning without any hesitation. He also looks extremely focused; his only problem is perhaps being overly aggressive.

kicks meant nothing to the judges, if corey were to have fell or lose composure from the leg kicks and emerson took advantage, one of two things wouldve happened, emmerson couldve ended the fight or he couldve got judges decision

emmerson had the nerve to say corey's punches didnt phase him, which is bullshit cause emmerson looked like he didnt want to get hit anymore.

corey was a sloppy fighter, got tired early and just had bad composure, against any fighter who can kick or clinch would own corey soooooo bad, I kept thinking, clinch the guy, throw some knees, take him to the ground and ground and pound, if you know what your doing the taller the fighter the more leverage you get to take them down

It doesn't matter whether both fighters were not impressive, what matters is who did more damage, and it is clear that Emerson did more damage to Hill than Hill to Emerson.

Corey is all bite and no bark. He's also a liar. He was 2-0 before the fhight, not 4-0. He even admitted lying to soemone that he was 8-0.

I don't know how D. White can coherently say Emerson won but the Judges were right. He talked two sides out of his mouth.

Anybody think this shows some problems in the UFC Scoring System?

I mean, octagon control, aggression?

How do you score that? You can easily score takedowns, reversals, sub attempts, good punches, kicks, and other strikes. But how can you tell who's being aggressive more of the fight? It always fluctuates throughout the round. I just don't really like the way judges have to "interpret" the fights.

I would give it to Emerson by a small margin, cause I think he won the 3rd round. I was really unimpressed with Corey after round 1, he really didn't show much aggression what so ever. It's too bad to, I really wanted him to be a killing machine. I just kept yelling "Do something!"

What the **** is this I keep hearing about "first round was a tie", there are no ****ing ties people, rarely do judges score "ties". If Penn didn't call it it a tie we wouldn't even be hearing about this and Corey would decisively win Round 1, which he did. Just as Emerson decisively won Round 2, and Corey edged out a decision in round 3. Simple as that, Emerson ****ing sucks.

Emerson is the Ross Pointon of Season 5.

As I was watching the fight I thought that Emerson could have taken it easily. The only thing was, he didn't. At the end of round three, I knew it was going to Hill. He went out there to win the fight. Sure he's sloppy and has no skill. But he went out there and pressed the pace and wanted to win. Emerson was trying to not lose. He did land the better strikes with the leg kicks, but to me it was more of a "if you come close to me, I'll kick you" kind of thing. That's not going to win you a fight. And it shouldn't win you a fight. He had every chance to get in and strike. He could have taken Corey down and controlled him. HE HAS NO GROUND SKILLS. The guy has not trained at all expect for what he's learned on the show.

Emerson had a lot of potential and he's shown that he doesn't have the heart.

We now know that the only reason his first fight was good was because Nate made it that way.

Pre Corey Hill fight...Emerson=
After Corey Hill fight...Emerson=

Emerson sucks because the way he approaches fights NOT because of his lack of skill (like Ross).
All Emerson would have to do is be more aggressive and have some confidence and he would have easily won.

Ehhh, your never gonna have a judge's decision that is always right on and your never gonna make a perfect system but there are definetly holes in the UFC scoring system.

You can only see octagon control and aggression in really dominating fights (like Lauzon vs Geraghty), but other that it is all discretion.

Emerson i think had the win , his leg kicks did more damamge then Hill's jabs. Also thought hill would of been dominating with the way he seemed. THe fight was actually a let down. Props to Emerson though on a good fight.
