Joe Lauzon is incredibly cerebral

He said it earlier and it's true. He listened to everything BJ told him. So far he has handled every situation properly, defends well and a great ground and pound. I see how he beat Pulver.

I thought cole was really impressive. However I think Joe woulda still won the fight. Joe is easily becoming one of my favorite light weights. You could tell Joe didn't mean to land the elbow to the back of the head and you could tell that he felt bad about doing it and did not want to win that way. He seems to be an all around good guy and clean fighter. It was obvious that Cole also knew that he didn't mean to do it.

The first round was EXTREMELY even, even if Joe had top position about half way in the fight Cole was still constantly going for submission attempts and you have to include that. That first round was as close as it could have gone.

Then after that illegal blow it was obvious Cole was out of it, he probably didn't even know his name at that time. It could have went to a third round if that didn't happen.

agreed

regardless i think joe would have won the fight

The most solid advice I can give to anyone who fights BJ Penn is...do not motivate the guy. Lets face it, BJ although talented, is naturally lazy. Your job is to NOT convince him to step on that treadmill.

I didn't see it very even. Far too much ground and pound but Cole does have good submissions...it really was a good fight up until the elbow.

Joe could have won that fight, but Joes explosiveness could have also led him to get caught in a submission if it went to a third round, as seen in the first round he was very close to getting submitted from trying to just use his explosiveness. We just don't know.

It wasn't too much ground and pound, Joe was missing quite often and Cole kept going for submission attempts, not to mention stunning Lauzon and almost choking him out....yes, it was a very even round.

I like Joe a lot, he listened to everything BJ told him. His biggest weakness ATM, IMO, is that he tends to get a little sloppy when he is trying to GnP...He punched the floor more than once this fight and also that misplaced elbow. My favorite on the show though, definitely.
