If Cole had said he could not carry on after that elbow would he have won by DQ?

It would have either been ruled a NC or Lauzon would have won. Seeing as how it is a tourney, I am inclined to think it would have been the later. And Joe wasn't really getting warned about it before hand, so it couldn't be a DQ.

Brownpimp, Cole would have won by DQ, because it was a illegal blow. Anderson Silva lost to Okami for a illegal kick same thing applies here. Just because you worship Joe Lauzon doesn't mean it would have been NC or Joe would have won.

What you fail to realize is that all cases are unique. Anderson got DQ'ed in his fight with Okami in a different promotion(ROTR I believe). They have different rules. UFC would look at the situation differently. It was his first offense(I believe in the fight). It is a tournament. These are exhibition fights. It would have either been called a NC, with Joe advancing, or a win for Joe.

Who cares, its all said and done now.

For this situation I agree with BP that it would have been ruled a NC. If it was on a PPV main event it would be a DQ but in the tornement it would be a NC.
Maybe they would have let them fight after the other 3 fights were finished.
