Did Corey Hill's bark get him as far as he got?

I'll be the first to admit that I hated Corey Hill at first. I thought he was just this seasons loudmouth, shit talking, black guy, who was going to run around like an idiot and end up being all bark and no bite. I guess many would say that's exactly what happened but I've been wondering if it didn't pay off for him. I honestly think that Gabe was mistakenly intimidated by him and that's why he chose not to eat properly and do what was necessary to make weight. If you've seen any of Gabe's earlier fight videos you would have to agree that he would have handed Hill's ass to him easily. I also think that the other fighters knew that Gabe was intimidated which probably played a little with Emerson's head and made him a little more hesitant in his fight with Corey.

Do you think acting like a badass even when you're not can work in your favour? If done right of course...not like telling blatantly ridiculous, bullshit stories like Marlon Sims.

Honestly, I don't think Corey is the type of person to try and get under someone's skin, whenever he was barking was during training pretty much, and it was just him and his team there.

I agree and thi sisnt a Corey bashing thread...once we got to see the real guy underneath all the phoney bravado I actually really liked him. Like I said I'm just wondering if his antics an the beginning of the show my have played a part in his going as far as he did.

Easy answer there is no. Please dont give Gabe an excuse for not making weight, yes I totally agree that Gabe wouldve beat Corey cuz he is more experienced than Corey but Gabe didnt make weight due to lack of disclipline on his behalf.

With the Emerson fight it was Emersons fault for not winning more than Corey actually winning.
Emerson shoulda went in there took some shots gettin inside and unleashed his muay thai on Corey, if he woulda done that he woulda won that fight.

I would seriously not forget the name Corey Hill though, as it was said on the show, give this guy 6 months and the LW division better watch out.

I think Corey knew that he wasn't as experienced entering the competition so instead of being known as the guy who didn't fight much, he decided to be known as the crazy barking guy. It was probably strategy because once we got to know the real Corey, we saw that he was a pretty awesome guy. Down to earth and overall pretty chill. Once he gets some ground skills, Corey is going to be crazy good.

I agree with e-thug. Please don't give Gabe an excuse.

Corey got this far because he is physically gifted, and(from the looks) worked his ass off to learn as much as he could. Unfortunatly, he didn't learn enough that would let him hang with the elite, and he was the weakest of the quarter-finalists.

i totally agree...he has been a great guy...give him a few months and work his ground game and he will be hard to beat...dont forget the fact his stand up looked alot sharper than his fight with emerson...it looked like it was giving nate some problems.
To me it looked like Hill was dominating the fight. He tossed Nate around like a rag doll and outstruck him.

When they were going to the ground I was going "NOOOOO don't go there" and then he got triangled =\

Corey deserves a future more then Gabe , Gabe was there for the wrong reasons he said him self i dont think he was intimidated he wanted camera time he got it . And now he has no career go try something else.
Remember when Corey was barking at him he had a smile so i doubt he was scared.
