Shoni is a veteran fighter and an entertainer. I wouldn't be so hard on the guy, he brings much needed flare and wit to the show - I was rooting for him.
Do I think he'll win the show? Probably not. But he will make the show more interesting to watch and you can't knock him for his 100+ fights - that demonstrates a real commitment to combat sports that should be honored, not ridiculed.

I think he deserves respect for his career but he's not showing me anything other than trying to feed into negative stereotypes and trying to get his TV time. I will still watch him but not as a fan. I'll want his opponent to beat him down and remove him from the fight game all together.

Yeah but he is terrible at MMA. MMA is not about swinging random punches in the air and knocking opponents out the way he did his random backfists to Serra at UFC 31 and the way he was swinging in the air like a madman against Quarry at UFC 53. The man is terrible. At least admit it. He probably never even practiced at MMA in his life watching him vomit. Even Din Thomas said hes only doing it for TV not MMA.

it jjst shows you knwo nothing bout MMA, i dont feel liek having a stupuid forum fight with because its not worth my time, the poeple at the gym are worth my time but this argument.........not even close.
But Shonnie makes the sport look bad, he does not bring anything good to it, you can keep having repect for him because he had a couple lucky fights but this is friggin MMA, and he is a shitty MMA fighter i dont care how "funny" he is on tv.

None of them even tried in that fight. Shonie is a terrible MMA fighter maybe not even considered one. He never even trained before for one of his fights I bet watching him barf in practice. All he does is swing a lot of lucky punches such as his random back fist and punches in the air. Quarry just dodged them then he fell on the ground like a drunk hobo.

Sorry but I think Shonie knows way more about MMA than any of you. Yea he's a crackhead or something but he knows how to fight. He doesn't have 66 wins under his belt for getting lucky 66 times. He knows what he is doing and he was extremely impressive in the fight against Serra. He got out of every submission attempt and every time he was on the bottom he got up. Serra couldn't do shit. Shonie is the master at takedown and submission escapes which is what keeps him in the game to win his fights. It was a very close fight but I think Carter would have gotten the decision. Serra didn't do ANYTHING in the last 2 rounds. He was way past gassed. And the reason he looked like a "drunk hobo" when he was trying to punch Quarry is because he got hit with a good clean shot right at the start. He was slowly getting closer to unconsciousness the more Quarry hit him. He tried to stand up and swing but he was borderline knocked out and when he stood up he finally went unconscious and fell forward. He looked drunk because he was rocked. It happens in a lot of fights.
Shonie Carter is a character and definately over-the-top but you can't argue with 66 wins. Maybe if he had less than 10 but 66?? C'mon now give the guy some credit he's at least a decent fighter. I'm not a fan of his fighting style or his personality but he definately IS an MMA Fighter and a decent one at that. What you guys are saying is like saying Chuck Liddell isn't an MMA fighter because all he does is try to punch people. He doesn't try submissions or ground and pound, he just likes to stand up and swing. Or Randy Couture isn't a MMA fighter because all he wants to do is ground and pound you. Everyone has their own fighting style including Shonie. It's different, but it obviously works. How many other UFC fighters have more than 60 wins under their belt? One. Jeremy Horn.
