Serra As A Leader

He maybe is a excellent instructor but his leadership skills suck never ever announce to the whole team that a fellow teammate is a F**K and then announce he is going home then.....................he isnt gone home and nothing has changed I am willing to bet their is a coup within Team Serra this season .

I think he's a good leader. He's showing alot of loyalty by keeping his butt weasle friend around. Loyalty to your people is a good sign of leadership. Anyway, its not like he's having his team sit around reading stories and having them guess what character he is in said story.

I agree but instead of blowing up in the gym do it quietly

I dont like Serra as a fighter, but as a coach I think he is one of the best.

Its actually I think Sera showed 10x more leadership as a contestant than he has shown as a coach. When Sera was a contestant on tough enough he became like the unoficial team captain but as a coach his loyalties are seriously blurring his vision, he has twice left his team to train alone while he went to give a heart to heart to his buddy who has already been eliminated from the show and doesnt care enough to show up for practice. He seems more interested in maintaining his personal relaitionship to Joey than he is in his team winning the competition or in the fact that the rest of them recieve all the training he can offer. I think Sera has neglected his team in favor of a personal relationship that has nothing to do with the show.

I disagree. He left the gym intent on sending Joe packing. Reason was, he heard Joe is whining that he will go home if he doesn't get a phone call. He went to the house, made solidly clear that he is not getting the phone call. When Joe agreed and backed off, he didnt pursue it further.

Whats not to admire here? He made sure to the other guys in the gym what would happen if you keep whining instead of training, made absolutely sure that Joe would have to tread Serra's path and not his own and then finally let it go and resolved the situation amicably.

He showed excellent leadership there .

i agree but i don't agree blowing up in front of the rest of the team about a teammate. he needs to do that quitly and make up his mind about what he is going to do about it and do it.

I think it's easier to talk ugly about your close friends. I doubt he would've said most of the things he said if it had been someone other than Joey.

matt serra is a horrible coach. he has a wealth of information about the ground game but whenever any of his fighters are in the midst of the fight all you will ever here him say is "BREATHE FOR ME!" and "Good!". Usually when he says "good" his fighter has thrown a 1 2 combination that did not land. he does not give any actual advice on what to throw in the stand up or how to pass guard. that is partially why Joey lost plus he just sucks
