I didn't see Mac crack open a bible after Hughes woke him up. I saw Mac sleeping, Hughes woke him up and said it is a wonderful story, Mac got up and walked around, scene ended. Right?

Does it make people uncomfortable or you uncomfortable? Keep in mind, Atheists are only 2% of this world.

Smu2 has a little shameless behaviour in the past
So just to clarify, everyone who says what he did was fine and dandy - you would have no problem with a passionate Muslim coach doing the same thing with the Quran instead?

Their phones were taken away, they have no magazines, no TV, no books; so I tried to give them some time to where they could read the Bible if they wanted to read something or just relax, play cards, whatever. So, instead of just having the house and the gym, I wanted to give them another place where they could just let their mind be free and do other things they wouldn’t get to do otherwise. And the Bible was the only book that “production” would allow me to give them.

I agree with AtomDagger. The bible has a profound impact on who Hughes is as a person. Me personally, not so into the Christian thing. However, the bible is an amazing book of parables (no offense intended towards anyone of the faith) about overcoming adversity and having faith in oneself, fellowship, and many other things. He didn't force them to read it. Whether you are a christian or not, there are many things to be taken from the Bible. I can see how it could inspire someone training as hard as the TUF's, while cut off from the friends and family. It also can clearly help the guys get an insight into Hughes as a person and a coach. It's not like Hughes said bible's this week; Baptisms next week.

They should be refused bibles if they asked because the rules are NO BOOKS. Why is the bible being allowed as an exception if it is supposedly for entertainment and as a diversion?

If it is for entertainment then they should be allowed to read anything they want. They made the exception for the bible because it has nothing to do with being a diversion but Matt proselytizing. Completely inappropriate but typical as our society bends over backwards to tolerate religon regardless of logic.

My thing what other books did he ask if they could read and production refused. To follow up a little on that would they have said no to the Koran with a K, or what about the Talamud the jewish book of laws or here's an idea, what about Arbian Nights with all its stories are those ok or not. Furthermore, he mentions cards did he anyone play cards? If its free time, then Mac should've been allowed to sleep as that is what he decided to do.

Its ignorant crap like what Wayne said make these discussions harder, would you feel differently if Serra was a hardworking Catholic that goes to church every Sunday and doesn't believe in abortion or do catholics just suck in general? Praising Hughes and then slamming Serra is no better than someone slamming Hughes for his religion.

If they allowed the Bible then they should have allowed other fiction books. At least give them John Grisham or something...

Just goes to show what slimeballs editors/producers are. They but a spin on it to make it look like Hughes is jamming it down their throat just to get ratings.

If that is true, we can be sure that Spike did it just to add some drama.

Sorry buddy, but atheists are more persecuted than any religious group. A gallup poll from 1999 found that more Americans would vote for a homosexual for public office than an atheist.

They couldn't turn down the bible because the christian right would be up in arms about the freedom of religion being denied to the fighters. You know how they get...
