I couldn't agree with you more, BCoop. BTW, Shitmop-Douchebag? What a combo! I love it.
It's nice to see people realizing what kind of person Serra is. And, on the other hand, it's nice to see people realize what kind of person Hughes is. I am no expert on psychology or human behavior, but I think Hughes has been pretty transparent ever since TUF2. Also, Serra proved to the world that he was a great coach while he was a
contestant on TUF4. He was the only guy you could hear through every fight, coaching his teammate. I'm sure Serra feels bad for the guys on Hughes' team. Serra was excited that Troy won, but at that exhilarating moment, he took the time to help and reassure Paul.
Earlier, C.Psycho used Serra's reaction to Joey's loss as an example of Serra's character. I think you really need to factor in the personal relationship Joey and Matt have (or
had) and the fact that Joey gave that fight away. Serra knows Joey like a freakin brother, and he had the right to freak on him after what he did. He made Serra look like a total joke. When the issue changed from his loss, to his loss of interest in being there, Serra did everything he could to keep him there not only for the experience, but to save his career. Serra knew what Joey would be throwing away, and he couldn't stand to see him blow his life completely. Seriously, I don't see anything wrong with Serra's reaction.
I honestly liked Hughes until I saw him on TUF. I think any of his fans who could see through the facade lost respect for him as a person. If he's got two fights left in him, he better make them good because he's not going to win people over as a person.
Needless to say, I will be pulling for Serra in the Matts' fight.
