How different would this season be if they still incorporated "The Hammer"?

Your thoughts on the use / non-use this season of "The Hammer", IE, Fights being picked alternately between teams and not by the winning team? I personally like that they take turns now and think that it adds more strategy and definitely makes things more interesting.

Hypothetically, If they still incorporated the Hammer how do you think it would be going now? Hughes did go after Joey first just to "Go after Serra's Heart", but he made sure of a almost certain win by pitting him against MAC. After that, I see them going after the more weaker guys.

i think hughes might be doing a bit better. i dont think he would be winning since his fighters dont stick to the gameplan, but i think he'd have at least one more win. although the one fight that serra picked that hughes was happy about- hughes fighter lost... so maybe things wouldnt have changed.

If Hughes acted like he didnt like the fight Sera picked it would pretty much crush his fighters confidance so thats kind of a pointless statement.

Im not sure it would really effect the fights that much, I would have thought it would judging by the last season but so far this season hasnt worked out much differantly so I guess no matter what the cream rises to the top, I also think the the coaches that lose get a rough shot though as I think it all boils down to the coaches ability to pick the best fighter more so than anything else.

My thought exactly on Hughes' "confidence" in his fighters. What does he do every time Serra picks? He nods and gives his bucky little chuckle, as if team Serra doesn't know what they're in for. His reaction to the picks don't mean crap because they're only his facade of confidence. Then every time Hughes talks to his picked fighter, he says the same thing, "I know you can win." He reassures the hell out of his fighters, but he doesn't coach them (at least not effectively).

i was referring to the episode where serra makes a pick and then once the teams have separated serra tells everyone that it was the exact same pick that he would have made and he couldnt believe serra would pick his guy to fight hughes' guy.

yeah, initially all hughes reactions to pics are the same, but this one was different. this time serra picked a matchup that hughes himself wanted.

of course, hughes' fighter lost. so it didnt make a difference.
