So, I just have to say something about Barrera's wife's traumatic event. I have a very strong feeling I have gone through a similar thing with my ex-wife.
Here we go...

I used to work in a lumberyard (not some Home Depot crap, a real lumberyard) 12 hours a day, 6 days a week. I'd come home exhausted, and didn't have much time to spend with her. I took all the OT I could get because I wanted to provide for my family, and she quit working when we first got married. She kept pressuring me to find a 'regular' job so I can spend more time with her. I loved my job, so I stuck with it.

Then one day, she barrels through the lumberyard in my truck, while I'm working. She opens the door and falls out crying. I was freaked out, so I dropped my customer and ran to her. She said she couldn't move, she couldn't think, and was totally hysterical. I didn't know what the hell was going on, so I tossed her in the truck and ran her to the ER. They couldn't find anything wrong with her. They said she may have had an anxiety/panic attack or something, but she totally denied any anxiety. I, on the other hand, was very skeptical.

We were pretty heavy into church, and she had it pinned as a demonic attack. Super-long story, slightly abbreviated -- it turned out she was crying for attention, and would do anything to get that attention. I ended up finding another job (she wrote my resume, and applied for me for several positions). Get this, 5 years later, she's still 'battling' an unknown condition. We're divorced and she's gone completely psycho.

Seriously, the whole phone call Barrera had with his wife was like a horrible flash-back for me. I really hope for his sake, he bolts. Just keep runnin Dan.

I know no situations are 'exactly' the same. But what do you guys think about it. Do you think she's bogus, or what? I believe it was her test to see if he would be devoted enough to run home to her. She said she was "DYING." And then she says it was anxiety? If she is bogus, she owes Dan a freakin hell of a career. She totally messed with his head for that fight. According to another thread, he's not even looking at fighting right now. He's working... sounds familiar.

she's loony. she can't help it. Dummies can't get any smarter, and they don't realize how dumb they are. Sounds mean, but it's true. So when praying doesn't work, they completely lose it because then they realize they have absolutely no control over their own lives.

Hope we get to see Barrera again. I can't help but like the guy. He's so nutty but at the same time, i think he's the most genuine person I've ever seen on the show.

i still think she freaked out on some drugs, strong weed or shrooms, like i said in another thread, i've heard almost identical speeches from friends like hers'; freakin out saying theyre dying when nothing is apparently wrong...

I think they both had it planned out so they could talk on the phone with eachother becuz they knew they could not make phone calls so they made the plan that she would call there saying that stuff so they could just hear eachothers voices...

He didn't even seem phased by it. It's almost as if he was used to it, and it was "just another freak out". He didn't seem to care at all really. He's just like "yea, ok, alright, well, feel better, cya". I like Barrera's personality, he seems like a fun guy to hang out with and has strong morals and values. He's a good guy.

I hope he realizes that God doesn't pick favorites. The whole time he kept saying, "this is just a test, God is on my side for this fight". While it did look like a huge test that you would read about in the Bible (the poofy hand, the hysteric wife, getting mauled around by Hughes in training, then fighting a much taller and seemingly larger guy in Ben Saunders...it was like David vs Goliath. I was pulling for him to win, and he showed a lot of heart in there. But he ended up getting kinda ****ed out of a 3rd round. Where was God? You overcame all that stress and shit to have such a close fight, and then the judges say Ben is the winner. I'm not arguing the decision at all. I'm just saying, it must have sucked to be Dan at that time. He was prolly thinking, "whew, it's all over, I did it, I overcame all of Satan's tests, and I gutted it out and now I have a chance to win this fight going into a sudden victory round"....then it all gets washed away. I wonder if he lost any faith after that?

dude, by him saying God is on his side im sure he didn't mean God loves him more than his opponent or that God picked him to win or any bullshit like that... im sure its just a confidence/defense/faith mechanism, relax on all this Dan-God talk, you hear it in every form of competition, in every locker room... i doubt his faith in God was hanging by a thread on this one fight...

That's not what I meant though. I understand what you're saying but he didn't say it in that context. He was talking about how he is gonna win the fight because he has God on his side. I dunno, that sounds to me like he is saying since he is a bigger God believer than Ben is, that God will allow him to win. I could be wrong but the context in which he said it in sounds like I could be right. It's not important though.

They made this episode out to be like a David vs Goliath type episode. His faith in God may not have been hanging on by a thread, but the way they edited the episode it sure looked like it could have been. I gotta rememeber that a lot of stuff happens in between those dramatic little parts though.

no way those two have enough brainpower betwen them to come up with a plan like that!!!!
