And I do like Serra as a person more than Hughes.
Friggin-A right doggie. It would take some serious cohones to walk into the other team's room after the fight.

One win wonder??
You do realize he had to win numerous times to win a title shot right?

I dont understand why so many people hate on serra for 'not deserving' the WW title. He earned his title shot by winning numerous fights.. then he proceeded to win his title fight... how is he a one win wonder?

Dont give me some bullshit that he only fought 1 top opponent.. cause thats what most people do to get to the top.

Whippet32 has a little shameless behaviour in the past
He beat a scrub at best in TUF5. Shonie Carter...

Who has he fought? Keep in mind I am not a big Hughes fan but Serra talks like he is Christ of the UFC. Hughes has fought some tough people.....Serra fought patsies at best

Hey..he won and is the champion which is the beauty of the sport where anyone can win at any time. For him to come across the way he does is total arrogance.

All of us who weren't good at dodgeball in elem. school and discovered athletics in college hated guys like Matt Hughes when were were growing up, and we hate them now. "serra is a dick to hughes, hughes is a dick to everybody"= poetry

While I don't like the way Serra is talking shit about Hughes all the time, it makes you wonder how things are getting edited. Hughes hasn't really got anything to back up talking shit as he's getting his coaching arse handed to him on a plate. IMO Serra is showing more class by how he conducts himself with the fighters. After the fight's he makes sure he puts in a good word to the loser, Hughes just throws a strop thinking nothing but me me me, putting more pressure on the next guy that fights.

Also, best man or not, Serra probably put his arse on the line for Scarolla to get onto the show and he got kicked in the teeth for it. I would have done the same.

I have never seen Serra talk like he's any sort of phenomenal fighter. He is confident, no doubt, but I do not see excessive arrogance from him. I have a feeling he annoys you, as he does many people. His voice, accent, and occasional abrasiveness can quickly turn people away from him, but if you listen to what he's saying, most of the time, he's not as arrogant as he may sound.
Who has he fought? Try GSP. Call it a fluke, but he beat him down. I have no doubt that GSP will take it back, but if that's not a top tier opponent, I'd be very interested if you'd care to enlighten me.
Oh, and he lost by decisions to Karo, B.J., and Din Thomas. He went the distance with these guys, and that is something to be proud of. Unfortunately, his only other loss was to Shonie Carter by the infamous spinning backfist only nine seconds from the bell in the third round.

Well said DavidM.

I'd also like to point out almost everyone wrote Serra off before the GSP fight. Imagine how you'd feel in that position after pulling off the impressive KO. Surely a touch of arrogance is justified....no?

Sera got lucky. and he has alot more than a touch of arogants.

I think huges is a good guy that dose some things that kind of jerky but I think sera is just a plane old ass hole he can hardly go through 1 camra shot without saying something bad about Matt.

The reason I really didnt like him was frome the way he acted and disrespected his coaches.
