Walking the walk and talking the talk
OK. Serra obviously is a tough guy and has skills but damn does this guy just run his mouth all of the time about Hughes. He must be in love with Hughes deep down. It IS more obvious to me now that Hughes walks the walk and Serra just talks.

Going into this season I figured Serra would not stand up to Hughes, I though he would be Hughes bitch. I'm glad to see him rub Hughes nose in his own shit. Remember Hughes is a cocky SOB, he's a bully. The best way to deal with that kinda guy is to fight fire with fire.
For the record, I don't like either Matt, I just love seeing Hughes look stupid. If you need to be reminded what an ass Hughes can be go back and watch the Tuf season where Hughes and GSP were coaching.

Or the second season where he doesnt even show up to coach Rashad Evans even though he was supposed to corner him next fight. Not to mention when Jason Van Flue beat up Jorge Gurgel, and Matt trades him the next day. And Matt repeatedly stated in interviews how Jason was expendable, but dude had heart enough to take out Rich Franklin's number one Welterweight. I've just recently rewatched all season 2 and Hughes was just as bad if not worse then....

Hughes is like Jeckle and Hyde, in other seasons he has been a world class dick, in this season he is trying to redefine himself as a nice guy. I'd like to see how he was acting if his guys were not getting their asses kicked.
Hughes should have had his boys read a little more of the bible-- maybe that would have helped.

I don't get why Hughes is supposedly the cocky prick but Serra can do no wrong. Serra is just as much of an asshole, if not more, than Hughes has ever been described to be. All he does is act like a douchebag that his guys are making Hughes guys look like crap.
Now I'm not saying he shouldn't act this way. They do, after all, have a rivalry going. But this is a rivalry which Serra has started by badmouthing Hughes.
If Hughes somehow started this by doing something directly to Serra, I never saw it. I just can't wait for this season to be over so I don't have to listen to Serra's douchebag mouth anymore.

Every time I get tired working out, I think of Jason von Flue running on the treadmill, stopping for a moment to puke water into a bucket, and then continuing to run. i was imbressed by 'is gommitment (gsp accent)
What have we learned today kids? That nobody likes an arrogant douchebag, but we'll buy the ppv in hopes of seeing them get their ass kicked.

I find the effort to redefine himself to be insincere. Wanting to be defined differently without changing who he is.
Serra's a dick, but he's a genuine dick and not telling you he's nice.
There are dicks in the world, and if they have to be out there, I want them to be obvious. So I'm more comfortable with an open prick like Serra, cause you know what to expect, than I could be around a prick who genuinely thinks he's a nice guy, as Hughes seems to me to be.

Beautifully put! I feel the same way, and couldn't have said it any better. I have posted my feelings on the Matts many times. I like Serra and I do not deny that he is a loudmouth, or that he may rag on Hughes in a dick-like fashion. I respect Serra as a fighter, but he has earned my utmost respect as a coach. The truth is, Serra really is a genuine dick. Hughes has lost my respect because he has shown himself as a two-faced good-guy/dick. That just doesn't sit well with me. Don't get me wrong. I work very well with a coach who is constantly on my back, and I feed on their criticism, especially if it's drill sergeant style. Hughes tries to get personal with his fighters and then breaks them down before and after their fights. Usually a coach will break someone down, and build them back up. He hasn't done that on TUf as far as I've seen. I know that editing is a factor and I don't know Hughes personally... I understand that. These are my opinions.
