Mac's training good or bad?

After watching that beatdown Mac gave out. I was pretty impressed. They were saying his takedown defense was poor but man did he have them down pat on that day.
I was diggin Mac till that speech he gives out in the locker room. Maybe it was from happiness from the win. But comeone he clearly said it on there self interviews that he trained himself in the last 3 years alone bla bla bla. And in the end of the segment he goes to explain how bad training there was as far as sparring etc etc. Then says in the end that he's been in better training sessions then these. Now all of a sudden he's worshiping this great team he's on. One could really imagine how much improvement he would have if he trained with the serra coaching.

Why was he bitching about having noone to spare with? Robbie Lawler and Matt Pena are there, I really don't see where he was coming from.

Have you ever seen him spar with Pena or Lawler? I know I haven't. That's probably because they have been dedicated to training which ever fighter was fighting that particular week.

I didn't have a problem with his speech because it just seemed like a rush of emotion from a guy who has strange emotions. He was ecstatic he had won, and was happy for his team to have another win.

If you watched the episode, you'd know it revolved heavily around Mac facing himself, as well as his overall pessimism on the show thus far. He said that he was going to attempt to take on a more positive outlook and attitude, and his little 'speech' was likely a reflection of that. As was said above, you could also chalk it up to emotion from a young fighter whom put on a great performance, earning a space in the semi-finals of the tournament. Not a big deal, really.

I think hes a great fighter but outside the ring I don't have much respect for him, or his attitude.
