Beating 1 guy doesn't constitute as being "the most dominant WW fighter of all time" though. Dominant would imply that the person beat a large number of challengers, and in convincing fashion.
And guys, the racism lies in the word "boy", and the way Serra said it. Calling him "boy" might imply a slave slang. Slaveowners used to call their slaves "boy". It's considered derrogetory to walk up to a black guy and say, "go wash my dishes, boy" rather than "go wash by dishes, dude".
And also when Serra imitated J-Roc he kind of used a voice that some might interpret as a stereotypical slave voice. It wasn't too far off honestly. He could have said that in the same context as he was saying he was Hughes' "boy"...but the editor's could have cut it and separated the 2 said comments to make it seem like he said it at different times. |

come on, you have to admit that Serra would have beaten at least the first seven of Hughes' opponents. after Sherk, and tigg, who knows. look at Serra's 10 UFC opponents, only two cans. then look at Hughes, 5 cans not including the second rematches with Newton and Trigg and an elderly Gracie.

Just being a nitpicker, but Serra is 2-1 as a WW. Loss to Karo, win over Lytle, win over GSP.
Also, you could definitely find a racial connotation in Serra's remarks. BUT... you can find a racial connotation in almost everything. I don't like Matt Serra, but I also don't think he was being racist.
Also, I like how Serra has brainwashed his fighters into thinking they can't learn anything from Hughes. If I was in their position and had the opportunity to train with Hughes, I would be there in a heartbeat, teams be damned. |

And I forgot about the Karo fight, and I was unsure whether the Lytle fight counted towards his record.
Still, I think it is pretty safe to say Hughes has been a more dominant fighter than Serra. I don't see how it's possible to argue that.

I doubt very much that he is racist, I was just posing a question. I guess you were the only one that saw what I meant. And I think there was a real good chance that editing was to blame. Im just saying you gotta be careful what you say on TV. One wrong statement could screw you up with the fans. Plus the topic was "Anyone offended...Not was anyone else offended. Alot of you guys jump right in to the pissed off responses instead of thinking for a second before you speak. |

Anyway, back on topic....
Whats this thing where the darker you skin is, the more sensitive everything is towards you. I really hate how races use their colour as a scapegoat for their actions. And I hate it even more that white people (in perticular) are sooo conscious and scared of what they say to the point where they deem everything racist.
Really, how does saying "your my boy" become racist? Did Serra have a Cowboy hat, a whip in hand and a strand of hay in his mouth?
Slavery was 150 years ago, people need to let it go. Racism is as significant as a wet fart.
