I really think this sort of thing should be expected since it's on every season of the show. People love it or hate it, but either way, they continue to watch it. Even if we see Richie Hightower in future UFC cards, we'll be sure to tune in so we can witness him get KTFO. It's all about entertainment. It's not always meant to satisfy the audience. It's sometimes meant to piss you off, or even digust you. Obviously it worked in this episode. It caused controversy, which is what they wanted. Is anybody going to stop watching? I don't think so. Why? because we are fans and we are loyal to the sport.
Anyway, I am a huge fan of pranks, but I have never brought shit into the equation. Honestly, I don't know how I would react in that case. I can handle huge amounts of stink, and I have a pretty tough stomach. I think I would have been disgusted to find shit in the tank, but I'd definitely be laughing. There's the obvious "team rivalry" aspect to this whole thing to keep in mind though. From my experience, any prank played against a team will be reciprocated ten-fold. I think the overreactions were because of the team rivalry, and not because it was that horrible or disgusting.
