I agree. Some people get them just because they look cool when really they have no real explanation as to why they got it or what the hell it means.

Very GAy

I can understand some tattoo's, things to do with family, friends, life and death situations. Something to show your love/respect for them or what happened. But tribal tattoo's? You are not some warrior from hundreds or thousnads of years ago who fights to stay alive and stop his family from being killed and raped and having their land pillaged and destroyed, because that's the only way to do it. You are fighting for sport/entertainment/money.
I am going to get "Judo" in Japanese tattooed on me later(Considering it) LOL. Mainly because Judo is a Japanese created martial art. I have a few other options i may get.

I like Japanese picture tattoo's like these ones in the link.

Kanji are not played out if you have Japanese heritage. You have special clearance.
There are temporary tattoos that stay on for months?!?!?!?

If you actually do Judo, then it wasn't really you I was talking about. Seeing as though it's a Japanese Martial Art and you practice it. You learn some of the language, the countries history and obviously have enough respect for it to dedicate some of your life towards it. ;]

I was more on about people who get stuff like "peace, love, harmony" in Japanese. Why if you are not Japanese? It just makes no sense. It just gives the impression that you use the word as an excuse to have a "cool Japanese tattoo". Because if you got it for the actual meaning of the word, why not get it in your own language? So people around you can actually understand what it is and why you have it. And if you don't want people to know what it is then why the **** are they getting a tattoo of it in the first place? The only reason is. . . to have a cool tattoo, but pretending, "Noooooooo, it's really deep and meaningful BECOZ ITZ IN JAPANEEZ LOL!1"

Then that John guy who fought twice, his arm tats look really fresh and some of the tribal parts aren't even all the way filled in yet. I noticed that in his last fight with Mac.

I dunno, I been paying a lot of attention to some of these guys tattoos. And it really got me thinking...

Either these guys got the tats just to look cool on TV, or they got them to intimidate the other guys, or maybe they are temporary tattoos that wear off in 6 months. I mean it's pretty obvious that at least a couple of those guys have really fresh tats, but I'm wondering if the tats are something the producer's thought of, to make them look more "badass" for the viewers, or is it something the fighters themselves thought of, for whatever reason, they wanted to look cool on TV or whatever. Thoughts?
I actually do tattoos and none of them looked that fresh to me other than John's who's isnt even finished yet but thats not that unusual. Tattoo's are expensive as hell my friend and most people get them piece by piece over several months for their larger tattoos anyways like johns. War Machines looked fine to me probably about a year old they dont deteriorate as fast as you would think. It is a possibility that they have gotten some to look good for the show but I doubt it most people arent that stupid. But about getting them done very time im currently working on my left sleeve and have been for about a year now and im only about 2 thirds done with it. I started on my back left shoulder and im working down to my left elbow but its so costly theres really no way to get it all done at once. that and the fact that no one wants to sit their in pain for more than 4 hours at a time, usualy anyways lol.

As for the tattoo's i cant personally say i knwo for a fact they werent new but they were definitly more than 2 weeks old. It takes 2 weeks generally for a tattoo to scab over and heal and shit, you cant go swimming during this time and they wouldnt be stretching and doing their work outs as mcuh either because it could hurt the quality of the tattoo if they did. Secondly you can tell they are atleast older than two weeks because when you get your tattoo's done the skin will inflame an stay that way for about 2 weeks time. As for getting Kanji, hirgana or katakana tattoo's (japanese) you cant ALLWAYS judge people because you dont know their ties to the country and shit like that. I myself have a few Hirigana on me but thats because I love Japan and know what it reads and can read it myself. I have alot of background with Japan though but i agree when people get it just because it looks cool i want to slap them. as for Tribals I CANNOT STAND THAT ITS SOOOO DISRESPECTFUL ITS NOT EVEN FUNNY but thats jsut the culture these days and we have to live with it but personally ive never done a tribal and never will but sadly it means ive turned down alot of money because its what most people seem to want these days

A couple of years ago I read a story in a magazine on a page where readers send in there funny stories and the story went something like this.

"A few years ago at college, my college friends and I befriended a chinese exchange student Kim. Over the year he stayed we became really good friends and he was fun to party with. When it was time for him to go home he gave us all good bye cards with our names as a chinese symbol. I had been thinking about getting a tattoo for a while and I really liked the way my name looked in Chinese so I decided to get the tatoo done.

The next summer I went on holiday and down the beach a bunch of Chinese girls came chasing after me shouting Sidney, Kim had mixed up the cards, bastard.

From Dave.
