haha yeah I see that so much on TV and in my neighborin state New Hampshire (mostly white)! but it's pretty cool where I live we have tons of asians, most of my friends were Camobodian/Chinese growing up. I think if people try harder they'd be able to tell between straight up viet, khmer, chinese, jap, laos (the hardest one for me), but we don't have many or any Japanese around where I live.
I gotta agree with the Jap/Tribal Tatoos. I understand that they might have special meaning to that one particular person but that person has to realize that if it's something special to them, they should go out of their way to make it the most unique independant thing they could ever possibly do. I'd be pissed if I saw someone with a similar tatoo I had put so much time and effort into choosing, jap symbols and tribals being so popular kinda eliminates that possibility so why not think more outside of the box? Any other way of thinking, you're destined to have a high chance of being tatoo buddies with the dude next to u.
Btw, tribals are too gay right now. I think it's crazy because you're basically "fitting in" after taking time and money to put something permanent on your body. There as good as wearing abercombie n fitch/gap labeled clothes and listening to remixed pop songs in your hooked up honda civic with your gf wearing those huge ass glasses to cover up her normal ass face no one pays attention to, but we can always change that right?
hahaha but u know who u r! hahaha

That's because they aren't separate races.. just separate cultures. Most Chinese people couldn't tell a typical japanese person from themselves if it wasn't for speech, clothing, culture etc. Their races are the same.

Actually- I never gave it much thought but when I was stationed in the far east I actually noticed that there are very distinctive characteristics between Japanese, Korean, Chinese, and other races of people. For that matter go to England and don't say a word and see how many people can tell you are American.
Re: Japanese tatoos- good rant, but if someone wants it let them get it. They just should not pretend that it is a "unique choice", or "no one did til you did"- they have been around sicne the ealry 80's.
As for making fun of americas with Japanese slogans- People in Japan use english/american slogans on a lot of things. And all written very badly, usually implying deeper meaning that owuldn't be bad if properly translated. I have a cooler that says:
"Dream time Beach I swimming" The other option was something roughly like: "brake beach day we making noise..."
The police station had a giant flashing sign that said:
"Have safety friendly life drive" amongst Japanese slogans.
Just to name a few that weren't even as bad as others. Buyt why shouldn't poeple use different languages for slogans?

If this was the year 3000 BC I would definately agree with you lol. Actually you are right but at the same time you CAN tell the difference between Chinese, Japanese, Vietnamese, Korean, and others. All their eyes squint differently, some have flatter faces than others, Japanese usually have rounder heads than Chinese, not to mention their hairstyles give them away alot. Chinese people have thin, stick straight jet black hair and Japanese have hoarse, thick, straight but not stick straight hair. Vietnamese are usually darker skinned with waaay flatter faces and bigger lips and noses. Koreans look a lot like Chinese but they're facial structure is a bit different and they are usually a little darker skinned than most Chinese, and I've seen way more Koreans have curly hair than any other Asian race/culture whatever you wanna call it. I will admit however than China is so big that there are probably different variations of Chinese people that I am not familiar with that may not look as "chinese" as I think.

haha yeah. Its pretty funny. I am Irish and if somebody mistook me for a french guy or something I would be pretty offended. But people have no problem doing it with countries or cultures in Asia

I am 1/2 russian and 1/2 english and if somebody mistakes me for italian because 90% of the women in my town who have dark hair are italian, I'm not offended, how the hell are they supposed to know?

The Only Kanji allowed on white people tattoos should translate to "Douche bag".

One thing... I have a Kanji tattoo and I'm not of Japanese Decent.
But i speak japanese and have always admired their culture. Still think I'm a douche for having a tattoo in another language? I have one in latin too
