Do these guys get tattoos right before the show just so they look cool?
Has anyone else noticed this season that almost all the guys who have tats, they all look incredibly fresh.
War Machine's little grenade tattoo on his neck, looks either fake or like he got it done 4 hours before he walked into the TUF house.
Then that John guy who fought twice, his arm tats look really fresh and some of the tribal parts aren't even all the way filled in yet. I noticed that in his last fight with Mac.
I dunno, I been paying a lot of attention to some of these guys tattoos. And it really got me thinking...
Either these guys got the tats just to look cool on TV, or they got them to intimidate the other guys, or maybe they are temporary tattoos that wear off in 6 months. I mean it's pretty obvious that at least a couple of those guys have really fresh tats, but I'm wondering if the tats are something the producer's thought of, to make them look more "badass" for the viewers, or is it something the fighters themselves thought of, for whatever reason, they wanted to look cool on TV or whatever. Thoughts?

I think tatoo's are mostly retarded anyway. Especially people who aren't of Japanese origin who get all these words in japanese tattooed on them. Would you have that stuff tattooed on you English? No. Why? Because it would look fkin retarded. But all of a sudden because it's in Japanese it has some deep spiritual meaning? Whatever.
I can understand some tattoo's, things to do with family, friends, life and death situations. Something to show your love/respect for them or what happened. But tribal tattoo's? You are not some warrior from hundreds or thousnads of years ago who fights to stay alive and stop his family from being killed and raped and having their land pillaged and destroyed, because that's the only way to do it. You are fighting for sport/entertainment/money.

Another post of yours I agree with. I've always thought it was ridiculous to call the MMA fighters modern day gladiators or anything even remotely comparing them to a gladiator.
You really know your stuff,

heh, thanks. I just call things as I see it, even if it's not very tactile. However, it's also probably the reason why I only have about four real friends. Double-edged sword and all that.

I agree with you. It really bothers me when Non-Japanese people get Japanese words tattooed on them, that they more than likely found in a book at the tattoo parlor 10 minutes before they sat down to get inked. I am proud of my heritage and I hate how I'm finally old enough to get tattoos (for 3 years now) and the tattoos I really want are "played out" because of all the douchebags getting kanji and shit.

I agree too. Koloski's tattoos were way black, and it seems like a 30-some year old would have gotten them earlier, like in his 20's, but who knows. WAR Machine probably made up his own nickname or got the tattoos just to make his nickname more valid. I don't see anybody else naming him WAR Machine. What about Scarotum's little tattoo? It didn't necessarily look new, but it was too freakin small to tell. I figure if you're going to get a tattoo, don't get a little woopty line on your back. At least come up with some sort of design. It makes him look even more like a puss, imo.
... and with the Japanese characters on white dudes pisses me off as well. I knew a guy who got three characters on his shoulder, and I asked him what it meant. He replied, "something about war and peace." I about bit the shit off his arm. It's just dumb, ESPECIALLY if you don't know what the hell it means.

Wasn't it Scarola who had the tattoo with the Hindu symbol? Maybe not exactly the thing you would choose just for that show.
On the other hand, he is sort of the Gandhi of MMA...
