Damn I was guessing it would be Jardine, at least there is some rivalry there. That'd a pretty big layoff for Jackson...

Kilik, I like that idea. Even though I think Forrest and Rampage will make a very unique season, I'd hate to see the title on hold for so long AGAIN. I think Griffin/Jardine would have made more sense, except I think Forrest should get the first shot at the title. Damn TUF getting in the way and whatnot.

Says its MW's with Griffin/Rampage and the shows airs April 08 I think it starts taping January...so yeah this is going to be a long lay off unless they tape the show and just do the match anyway.

Rampage is injured he is out until the spring anyway.

Then he will have a couple of months to prepare for the fight. The fight will be in july/august so its not too bad.

‘Rampage’ and Griffin named as coaches for TUF7
By Thomas

UFC President Dana White made it official over the weekend - UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson and top contender Forrest Griffin will battle it out for the 205-pound crown in 2008 – but not before the charismatic duo compete as coaches on season seven of The Ultimate Fighter reality show, which begins filming in January.

White made the Griffin announcement during Saturday’s Ultimate Fighter finale show, with the announcement of Jackson’s involvement in TUF 7 coming during the broadcast of the 2007 Video Game Awards on Spike TV, which also airs The Ultimate Fighter.

Jackson, fresh from becoming the first fighter in history to unify the light

heavyweight title when he defeated PRIDE champion Dan Henderson in September, will be making his first appearance on The Ultimate Fighter. On the other hand, Griffin - who stunned the MMA world with his decisive submission victory over the last man to beat ‘Rampage’, Mauricio ‘Shogun’ Rua, also in September – will be returning to the place that helped make him a superstar back in 2005, when he won the first season of the show by defeating Stephan Bonnar in one of the sport’s classic battles.

The seventh season of The Ultimate Fighter – featuring middleweight up and comers - is expected to air in April 2008.

This should be the best season in recent years, and a helluva fight. What's not to love about Forrest and Rampage fighting? This fight will instantly become a classic war.

no one should of been surprised by this announcement if they watched fight night live...first they called griffin the #1 contender and said he'd be fighting someone at the end of the tuf taping...clue 1. then they showed the "clip" from the vga's before the official announcement of the winner of the main event and in the clip was a picture of griffin and 'page standing next to each other...

surprise!!!...not.

Yet another dumbass move by Dana and the boys. Forrest doesn't have the either the status, or coaching history, required to be a coach. I love the guy, but he shouldn't be a coach.

All of the previous coaches, minus Serra of course, were coaches because their track record in MMA was unequaled.

Here's the lineup
Season 1 -
Randy and Chuck... Need I say more?
Season 2 -
Matt Hughes & Rich Franklin... Both Top of their game and huge in the UFC
Season 3 -
Tito & Shamrock... again Need I say more?
Season 4 - Combination of trainers
Season 5 - Penn and Pulver... Both important figures in MMA
Season 6 - Hughes(most dominant WW) Serra(uhhhh... He was supposedly a great trainer and the WW champ.

Forrest, besides putting UFC in mainstream with the Bonnar fight, is not elite enough to be a coach.

Rampage is fine, but Forrest is just there for entertainment.
