Dante trains under Renzo Gracie so I'm not sure why you think he's a wrestler. Watch the fight again or at least the first and especially the end of the third. When Dante had side control he was defiantly going for submissions. He went for a number of Kimura's and a couple of arm triangles.
Also I didn't say they were good submission attempts I said they were attempts the guy gassed out somewhere around the middle of round 1 but that's a different problem.
He was the one pinning Brandon against the cage Brandon didn't try and push the pace when they were seprated and he didn't close down angles. When Dante was in the Guard he did nothing I will give you that outside of his failed leg lock. But when he had side mount he was defiantly active.

I thought the decision was fine (despite Dana and Rampage's complaints). For the majority of the fight Brandon was essentially throwing rabbit punches and just "staying active". Dante clearly was working for subs and had dominant position, but wasn't doing much with it.
I don't know that either fighter did a lot of "damage", but it was a good fight nonetheless. I like it when fights go back-and-forth (much like Riddle & Credeur), but this one was more like waiting for Dante to submit Brandon and it just didn't happen.

I agree to a lot of what you're saying here, but in my opinion if you are waiting the whole fight for him to open up for a submission and you don't submit him, meanwhile he's throwing and landing punches at you the whole fight (even rabbit punches), you didn't fight a better fight.
A position is what you make of it in my opinion. I could be full mounted for an entire round but if i'm bashing his face in and blocking his punches, I'm not in a bad position. (of course that isn't what happens, but I exaggerate to make my point clear)

True but part of a fight is controlling where it goes. Dante controlled where the fight was and while he didn't get any submissions attempted submissions have to count for something just like a punch that lands but doesn't KO your opponent counts for something.

I think i'll have to watch the fight again. I only saw a couple attempted submissions, both of which were weak and probably didn't take anything out of Brandon. he controlled the fight which is great- good for you Dante. please do something with your control next time
Maybe takedowns are worth more to the Judges than they are to me. I think of a good takedown as a huge tide-turner but these were lackluster and low impact with no positive result.
of course what the judges say goes, but I wish I had a look at their scorecards and an interview haha...

I think it's safe to say neither of these guys were destined to win this season.
How many people are really digging Matthew Riddle? I've never seen a kid happier to lose. He could be real real good for the UFC. There's different types of young and brash, and he's the good kind. Jeremy May is the bad kind, even though I kinda want to see him do decent just so CB can kill him.
A couple interesting things I picked up from Dollaways blog: Riddle is now training down with him at Arizona Combat, so the kid gets himself to a decent gym. And there is 2 fights in the next episode, so the Brown/May one ain't lasting to long. I didn't see the previews for the next episode so I don't know if this is just common knowledge.

The 2 fights is common knowledge 6sidedlie and I'm exicted to hear Riddle is a Arizona Combat. I mean the way they have devloped wrestlers into more well rounded fighters like Varner is impressive and they could defiantly turn Riddle into something solid.
The more that I look at the guys this season the more it reminds me of TUF 5 which turned out some solid talent. I mean Riddle, Dollaway, Creduer are all defiantly guys who can succeed in the UFC and their are some other borderline guys.

Apparently there's a Mazagetti fan on here since he thought that "Maz" did the right thing when he didn't seperate them after saying "STOP STOP!"

I think people rip on Mazagetti a little much. He doesn't do a great job but to be honest there isn't a ref who does a ton of fights who isn't blasted on teh forum. The only guy who didn't get ripped on was Big John and he retired. I mean Herb Dean is ripped on by people all the time as well it's a real tough job for anyone.
