Dean flew in at full speed with a flying tackle. There was no hesitation, so I'm not sure what you think you saw.

He got there remarkably quick considering how unexpected an opening shot like that is.

This is exactly why being a UFC ref is probably the hardest job out there.

You guys complain when the stoppage is early and complain when he gives them a chance to recover.

Give me a break. Being a fighter.. you just have to accept the possibility of getting hurt.

since the guy is ok, i just found it comical, however, the other guy could have shown some concern. that's a fact.

Doesn't really sound like a joke...or like it was said in a joking tone. I think you just may have missed herb's reaction when you watched it the first time and didn't like that the fighter took a couple blows while he was out.

I don't mind disagreeing with the masses here - as soon as I saw that tonight (in real time) I was like "Where is Herb".

If you watch the beggining of the round - Herb is miles away from the fighters and as soon as the knockout punch hits, he doesnt move - he moves on the first follow up punch. I'm not bitching about the "Late Stoppage" or giving Herb Dean a load of shit - but I do think it could of been quicker.

As for the poster that said we would be bitching if it was an early stoppage - I PERSONALLY would prefer a ref to call it early than to see an unconcious fighter take 3 full on clean smacks to the jaw.

But please note - I am not bitching, but making an observation, I think Herb was a touch slow, that is all.

As for the fighter, god damn I hope he is all right - he was a mess after that fight and had no idea where he was, what he was doing, if he was in practice or fighting or what!

I know fighters need to be expected to get hurt and we all need to realise that fighters get hurt (as most of you do) but I still personally don't like to see a fighter in a mess like that. I realise it happens & know that it will continue to do so and there is no way I am saying we should stop people getting knocked out, but I didnt like seeing the guy like that, dude was a mess man!

as soon as that punch landed you knew he was going down, herb was never letting him recover because any ref would have known he was ko'd a soon as that punch landed. herb was just abit late to react

Simmler reminds of Andre Alovski look-a-like with the beard, and he is also with Serra's camp. Too bad he went out that way.

As far as late stoppage, I don't think Herb Dean or anyone else expect such a knockout, especially from these up and comer fighters. I think he did pretty good job.
