Best and Worst TUF Coaches?

Best Coach: Tito Ortiz

I know most people hate Tito Ortiz but you have to admit he was probably the best coach so far...IMO. Tito built the closest team I've seen on the show and truely showed that he was there for the players and not just around to make himself look good on TV...(ahem Hughes). Plus, both season's winners Bisping and Grove came from Team Punishment.

Worst Coach: Ken Shamrock

This was probably an obvious pick but I had to. Not only did Mr. Shamrock pick some of the biggest losers in TUF history, he wasn't even around half the time. It was very obvious early in the show that Ken was strictly there for the exposure.

I'm sure some of you agree with me and some of you will definately disagree with me...let's hear it. Please give reasons why.

I agree with Tito being the best but have to give the worst to Hughes. The way he treated Jason Von Fluke after he beat George Gurgel really pissed me off. He isn't a real team player and is the classical jock and overall thought he was a bad coach. I just don't like coaches who treat their guys like losers if they aren't the best at the moment. The point of coaching is to try to build your guys and make them trust you and feel comfortable, and I see Hughes doing the exact opposite. But Ken was very very bad too lol

Trust me, Hughes was a very close choice. I mainly picked Shamrock because he didn't resemble anything close to a coach while on that show. At least Matt Hughes did teach the guys some good ground skills. Unfortunately, he did it while belittling them and acting like an arrogant douche.

I think Tito and Shamrock have it.

Both Pulver and Serra were great coaches, did the best with what they had.

Hughes was a crappy coach on both occasions.
B.J. Penn wasn't spectacular.

The best I think you gotta go with Jens Pulver. Let's face it people, the reason why Tito did so well on TUF3 is because Ken Shamrock was an absolute waste on TUF3.

Pulvers team had to face much better competition on BJ's team then Tito had against Shamrocks. Pulver brought in a BJJ, wrestling, and striking coach. Most of his fighters fought well and not to mention Pulver had an excellent "draft" so to speak.

That being said, Ken Shamrock was without a doubt the worst coach EVER on that show. I can't believe some of you people think Hughes was close, Shamrock just takes the cake for this. The guy brought in a weight lifter for one of his coaches, simply because it's his best friend! He pretty much had no conditioning program considering EVERY fighter on that team was in horrible shape. He also picked horrible guys, I mean c'mon, Jesse Forbes #1 pick?????? His team won a total of 3 fights, 2 of which coming from the same fighter.

Ken Shamrock was such a disgrace on that show...but again, it's what made TUF3 great

Although Shamrock never did in fact kick the living death out of anyone on that show, he was in fact a terrible coach. I don't know if it's the fact that he was coaching across form Tito who turned out to be a fantastic coach or if he really did suck as much as it seemed. Overall I have to agree with your choices although Hughes is a close second and I'm a Hughes nuthugger.

hahaha, I know he wasn't a main coach but it was hilarious how he didn't want to roll with anyone due to the staff infection. Don't blame him but it was funny as hell
