Matthew Riddle - Terrible Teammate

On the last episode of TUF Matthew riddle was sitting on a couch talking to Matt Brown who was Jeremy May's opponent on that episode. Matthew Riddle told Matt Brown about Jeremy's leg injury and even told him to kick him in the leg.

Jeremy May and Matthew Riddle are teammates on the show. It doesn't matter that Jeremy was exaggerating the injury (Matthew didn't know that, he thought it was real). It doesn't matter that Jeremy is a complete jackass. It doesn't matter that Matthew Riddle hates Jeremy May. It doesn't matter if he was drunk or hung over. He gave away strategic information to his teammate's opponent before their fight. You NEVER go against your team. That would be like a soldier crossing enemy lines and giving away his general's plan of action to the opposing side. It's f'n wrong. You don't ever betray your team like that. What an asshole!

It's too bad that Rampage won't get to see the tapes until after the show is over. I would love to see him confront that loser or toss him off the team. I don't care about the circumstances, you don't betray your team, it's just wrong.

I don't look it at as Riddle betraying his team. It's not at all like the person that said he thinks just because Matt lost he doesn't need the team so he's gonna f them over...He just wants to f May over because May is a complete overall douche bag and also May made some smart ass comment to Riddle after his loss...May got what he deserved...well actually i wish he would have been the one that got his jaw broken in 4 places. I'm not just hating on him because he's arrogant (which he is), but he completely sucks which we saw last fight. He is damn lucky he even got to be on the show. I saw absolutely no skill from him in the fight against Matt Brown, all i saw was sloppy ass looping punches similar to what drunken unskilled guys throw.

May is a huge douche and was not helping the team at all by sitting out. It is a 16 man tournament, 32 man this year. It is about the guy who wins it, not about the teams. They have teams so that they have some way of seperating the guys so they can fight each other, I dont really care about the team aspect of the show, because mma is an individual sport and each and every guy is there for himself.

You have got to be kidding when you say MMA is an individual sport. Training camps, training coaches, training partners, cutmen, etc are all huge parts of it.

The fact that the winners get to choose the fights and that Rampage was already losing so badly is the reason I thought it was in really poor taste.

mma is an individual sport, of course you have training camps etc.. an individual sport doesnt mean it only takes one person to prepare for the sport etc.. it means an individual does the sport by himself, without a team. There are mma camps, but the individuals determine wether they are successful. Riddle wanted Brown to win and not May, perfectly understandable. So he gave him a tip on how to beat him. If May had been training, being a decent teammate and everything then I would understand the problem but he was just helping a dedicated guy who deserves to move on in the tournament hints on how to beat a jackass, who didnt deserve to be on the show and was being a complete ass to everyone on both teams.

Im not saying your wrong, because there is definately a team component to the sport but if you consider mma a team sport then I think just about anything is a team sport. I cannot think of anything besides maybe running that doesnt require the help of others and even in running I am sure you have dudes you run with, a track team, a coach, probably at the highest levels trainers and stuff like that. So there is definately a team component to mma I just feel like when you actually have to do the sport yourself I just think it is an individual sport.

Either way, these guys just met each other (most of them) and were thrown onto teams and it isnt like they owe some huge amount of loyalty to the guys. Riddle was annoyed with May and thought Brown was a cool guy so he gave him a pointer, really didnt have an affect on the fight though because I dont think Brown threw a single leg kick and instead of kicking his leg, he kicked his face. I guess we will have to agree to disagree on the team sport thing, even though yeah to be successful you def. need good guys around you.

That is true about Dollaway and Riddle training at Arizona Combat Club a very underrated gym. However Riddle is supposedly a huge stoner.

im going the other way on this. i think matt did what was necessary. people get really hung up on the team aspect of this show, but really... in the end its not a team that wins the contract. just one person. Of course people are gonna play one teammate against the other, sure some might do whats best for them and leave someone else blowin in the wind... tough luck man. watch out for yourself. Its not the IFL, the teams dont stay teams- it narrows down to a single person. what about at the end of the season when you end up seeing teammate vs teammate anyways?

I dont think this is an issue and i am very glad may is done. that kid sucked.

You don't betray your team. Even if there was a few people I didn't like on my team I wouldn't help them lose. I don't think what Riddle did what was right. Neither did May by faking a injury then he gased like a ***** in the fight. Pisses me off...
